@ToTBellHop May I ask how optimistic you are about this land’s budget/scale, as well as the budget/scale of its dark ride?
My only concern would be execution. It will be well-funded and large-scale. But if they insist on going campy and silly instead of spooky, I’m not sure I’ll enjoy it.@ToTBellHop May I ask how optimistic you are about this land’s budget/scale, as well as the budget/scale of its dark ride?

Yes. I did not find the new villain show reassuring but hopefully they learn from guests that SOME spookiness is acceptable.Hopefully they find the balance - and especially across the land (if one elements leans a little more "campy", another a little more spooky, etc) ... guess Haunted Mansion is a good model for mixing the two
Definitely want some spook level but also an area everyone in the family can enjoy at least parts of it
Villains Mash Up: Orange and Green Missions coming? My only concern would be execution. It will be well-funded and large-scale. But if they insist on going campy and silly instead of spooky, I’m not sure I’ll enjoy it.
Why would they have the villains lose to us or heroes in their own land? It’s more likely to have the villains infighting as the way they are “defeated.”I just want the villains to be villains in their own habitat. I'm not a fan of the "Now Jafar will argue with Hades" mythos. It's an amusing thought, but I think it would get old in a permanent attraction. A Maleficent roller coaster should be about us or Prince Philip defeating Maleficent.
This is part of why Villains as a land isn't a good idea. Why do they have "their own land?" It's a flawed premise from the get-go. This should be an extension of Fantasyland, not a meta-verse.Why would they have the villains lose to us or heroes in their own land? By your logic wouldn’t Fantasyland also be a meta-verse? It’s got stuff from all kinds of different movies in there. This is part of why Villains as a land isn't a good idea. The Villains are a popular brand, like the Princesses. This is part of why Villains as a land isn't a good idea. Why do they have "their own land?" It's a flawed premise from the get-go. This should be an extension of Fantasyland, not a meta-verse.
No, I'm talking about a ride that has villains interacting with each other. There can be Villains-themed rides in a Villains Land, but let the Villains be independent from each other in their own attractions.By your logic wouldn’t Fantasyland also be a meta-verse?
Yes, I'm aware, but these combination franchises take some of the character away from each of them. It makes much more sense to be chased by Cruella de Vil on a 101 Dalmatians Ride then to randomly have her appear in Maleficent's castle because she was attending the Villains Convention we crashed. What's the point? She's chasing us because we're helping the puppies in one attraction. In the other, she's chasing us because she's, um, after us for some reason? The Villains are a popular brand, like the Princesses.
It was 100% part of that, that became the plan once the dumb meet and greet chateau village thing got changed to seven dwarfs mine train. Was it even one? All I remember being back there was a small stage at the very back...and Little Mermaid meet and greet. 20K Leagues had closed years before....and the transformation of the Snow White ride to a Meet and Greet I didn't think was part of that project...
Clearly they're chasing us because we said they looked like dorks. She's chasing us because we're helping the puppies in one attraction. In the other, she's chasing us because she's, um, after us for some reason?
I get where you’re coming from and can’t say I totally disagree with you but I imagine the thinking behind a multi villain story would be that since the land will only have two rides it’s better cram a bunch of characters in at least one of them instead of only having two villains getting rides and getting constant complaints from people who’s favorite villain didn’t get to be one of the two.No, I'm talking about a ride that has villains interacting with each other. Hades is a villain because of the context he finds himself in during Hercules. Same with Jafar. I don't get the point of them even existing outside of their respective universes. It's just kind of dumb in my opinion.
I think that works better as a one-off ride than land. It’s believable that they could work together for a minute or two. Not much more. Even in Fantasmic!, they are aligned in purpose but still challenge Mickey individually and think they can do better than one another. They don’t really work together. This land can work with a very simple story. The Magic Kingdom is a door to all realms. A hub world, though they probably wouldn't couch it in those terms. We (the guests) are the magic. We have pulled them here (or at least opened the door) through our fascination with them, and now they want to conquer and/or manipulate everything to suit their own, varying purposes.
Why are they all in the same land? Because this is the place that we have created for them. Since we are the conduit to all of these worlds, they will try to woo, cajole, intimidate, or outright dominate us to get what they want.
And yes, some of them will work together until their eventual betrayal causes their collective downfall. Not just because that is what villains do, but because that is what we expect them to do.
My wild (maybe naively hopeful) mind the timeline is:Seems like with all the WDW and DLR news, Disney is moving about as fast as can be hoped for with the projects announced at D23 (given Disney timelines generally). While my brain keeps telling me 2029 is too optimistic for this, the fact that they already announced the train loop being closed until Villains opens makes me think this won't be open in 2032. Don't know if the word has gone out to fast-track the domestic expansions in response to Epic.
My wild (maybe naively hopeful) mind the timeline is:
2027 - Tropical Americas
2028 - Monsters Inc.
2028/2029 - Cars
2029/2030 - Villains
This fits with the narrative Disney was making that everything they announced at D23 2024 being open in the next 5 years, with Villains being technically 5 1/2 (If it opens around summer 2030, which seems the most likely to me)
I think it’s a mix of they are aware of the criticism they get because of their slow construction process, they have figured out that the money they save from stretching things out is small compared to the money made at the opening of a new attraction, and yes I also think EPIC has put more urgency on the WDW projects.Seems like with all the WDW and DLR news, Disney is moving about as fast as can be hoped for with the projects announced at D23 (given Disney timelines generally).
