It can still be monetized for that, and the upper balcony an upcharge! And block that fireworks view they charge $$$$$ for? Not a chance in hell.

Because kids are big consumers of concept art and media presentations?Tell Eddie that someone at Disney's presentation of this that this sign was made for the kiddos. It seems to emphasize the 'fun area' and not the ride that they may not be tall enough to ride.
Lone hero, disgruntled with civilization, travels to distant frontier mining outpost where he bonds with noble natives and helps them push back against encroaching machinery, in the process finding his true self.Yes, Dancing with Wolves is a western. Is Fern Gully a Western?
The Mandalorian is functionally a western. You didn’t answer - is Dancing With Wolves a western? What are the key themes of Avatar?
Yes, certain broad story tropes show up across cultures. In America, those tropes have been shaped, filtered, and defined by the frontier myth. This is one of the reasons samurai films translate so well to a western setting and vice versa.
If we’re tossing any genre that doesn’t resonate anymore… well, the pirate film is dead, so better dump that. Indy bombed and no one is making jungle adventure films, so let’s chuck Adventureland in the trash. Snow White just embarrassed everyone at the box office, so the Mine Train needs to go. Buck Rogers sci-fi isn’t big, so level Tomorrowland. Not a lot of folks care about classic Hollywood or Tower of Terror, so…
He seems to have forgotten that Dances with Wolves was 35 years ago.
Huh? This is showing the whole area and doesn’t at all emphasize a smaller area or any particular elements. If anything, today suggests that the second, younger skewing attraction is being eyeballed to keep costs in line.Tell Eddie that someone at Disney's presentation of this that this sign was made for the kiddos. Seeing a tall wall doesn't exactly scream open sky or wide open spaces. It will feel cramped because, rather than being bordered by a wide expanse of water and open sky, it will be bordered by trees and rockwork. This will make it FEEL more cramped.
But rockwork!Seeing a tall wall doesn't exactly scream open sky or wide open spaces.
He, along with everyone else, also knows how their latest WDI 'creation' turned out.Disney PR read the room when this first came out. This is, along with the detailed descriptions of how WDI is ensuring minimal disruption to the rest of the themed area is the heavy hand of marketing trying to build good will for the project.
Who knows what the final product will look like, but to say everything is going to be great based on a single press release is just silly. EddieHe knows that.
But rockwork!![]()
If you consider the Mandalorians the "Indians" in the story, yeah, since they're the ones the government is pushing out of their home. The Mandalorian is functionally a western.

Your understanding of the western myth is infantile. Are you familiar with the term “revisionist western?”It doesn't really matter, the Cowboys and Indians genre of western entertainment is not popular anymore because we, as a society, don't find it acceptable to glorify the exploitation and killing of the indigenous people.
Which was my point. It's highlighting the "play area" which isn't terminology I would use for a kiddie ride.Huh? This is showing the whole area and doesn’t at all emphasize a smaller area or any particular elements. If anything, today suggests that the second, younger skewing attraction is being eyeballed to keep costs in line.
You don’t seem to be following the conversation. He seems to have forgotten that Dances with Wolves was 35 years ago.
The art is different because it emphasizes other things and isn't shown with more realistic elevations and show buildings that obscure the waterways. People did in fact suggest that the waterways would work like that based on the original artwork. Because it's easiest to search my own posts, here's one where I said exactly that from August 13th.This is unfair. I never expected the project to be cancelled or significantly altered in response to fan complaints, yet I cannot deny the differences between the two pieces of concept art. One of these differences, as I noted in my earlier reply to you, includes the joining of the waterfall to the riverfront, which is not what the earlier concept art showed or even suggested. Again, how much faith should be put into the new design is another question, but I can’t understand why you keep denying that it is, in certain respects, different from what they previously publicised.
The concept art at least makes it look like there will be a stream that flows down from Piston Peak and winds around the old boardwalk, possibly emptying out into the river by Thunder Mountain. We’ll see. Hard to tell what’s going on over by the Haunted Mansion, though.![]()
You’re flailing. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a western! Maybe The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe is one too.
Oh please. Every single person reading my original post should know EXACTLY the members on these forums I am talking about. Not true. I’m very much on the Pixie Duster end of the spectrum, and though today’s news leaves me a bit more optimistic about the project than I was, I still wish it weren’t happening.
I’m glad you and others are into it, but there’s no need to question the legitimacy of others’ feelings.
Yes, there is certainly some of that for current people. It doesn't really matter, the Cowboys and Indians genre of western entertainment is not popular anymore because we, as a society, don't find it acceptable to glorify the exploitation and killing of the indigenous people.
