Question of the Day

How are you doing?
Honestly, I don't want to go into any personal details but due to recent developments in my social life...the best I've felt in a long time. Community is EVERYTHING and I'm so glad I decided to stop being a hermit and actually embrace it.

It's summer and I work at a water park. Without revealing personal details, I used to work at a single water park at a time and now suddenly for the first time since 2019 I work at 2 separate water parks at once. Which means I've been training 6 days a week for the last two months while also being trained for a promotion. Soooo I need a good long month nap or two.

But we're coming out the other side and easing down to regular summer chaos and there's a light at the end of the tunnel and things are looking real nice on the other side. So, I'm stressed, tired, and burnt out, but more than that excited cuz I know in a month or two life's gonna be great

I get why this is controversial and I totally understand. I've got some issue with it still too. But between the first concept art and now this one. I think this is gonna be really amazing for Frontierland making it feel full and like a natural wonderland. With the more cartoony stuff self contained while the more natural environments stand out. Plus, being able to cut across between Mansion and Thunder directly while also having easy access to new expansions will do a LOT to help ease dead ends and bottlenecks making crowdflow way better which was always my big concern with any Beyond Big Thunder expansion considering how packed that area gets already on busy days

Edit: I'm expecting this to be like New Fantasyland where there's some stuff I dislike, some stuff I miss, and some stuff I feel could've been done a lot better. But overall a definite upgrade that helps give Magic more of its own identity compared to other castle parks. Time will tell though. We all know how well Disney sticks to concept art and this is obviously stylized

I like how they're keeping a stretch of the river in tact here. That'll really help sell the overall "national park" vibe.

I’m feeling actually decent about this. Which is far better than I was feeling about this whole project before seeing this!

In honor of Nissan Frontierland being good actually maybe, what is the theme park project you thought would absolutely suck but ended up being pretty solid?

The Country Bear Musical Jamboree stands out to me as an overall positive and while I wouldn’t say it’s better than the original, I think most of that is nostalgia because the animatronics are improved, the way they integrated the music is solid, and it still retains the old Country Bear charm.

The Indiana Jones ride coming to Animal Kingdom. I thought it only have the bare minimum of research done with only decorative elements being recognizable, but it seems that Disney, much like me whenever I'm doing research for a culturally-based concept, went above and beyond to make sure that all the Maya cultural elements in the attraction are 100% accurate to the source material of an actual Indigenous culture that still exists today and has a rich tapestry of history, tradition, and myth to pull from.

Honestly probably the same answer

I'll give a very specific shout out to the Cosmic Rewind gravity building. From photos I thought it was gonna be horrendous, but seeing it in person the big blue box really does naturally fade into the background if you aren't looking for it. Still not what I'd want them to do, but way more solid in execution than I expected I to turn out

If they legitimately pull this latest artwork off visually, and naturally, I'll be much happier. This assumes the water running along the existing docks is substantial, even if not the width of the existing Rivers. It honestly is a nice transition incorporating BTM and TBA into the flow and design. Really curious what this does for Haunted Mansion. Hopefully remnants of Liberty Sq can hang around.

I'll always hate the decision, even if I enjoy the new area. The loss of the vibes of the Rivers, Riverboat, Rafts and Island I guess are not a big deal to some, which is fine since we all enjoy different things about the Disney parks. To me it's what has always made Disney different. While I'm not a fan of IP centric areas in MK, if you had told me we'd get this (hopefully what it turns out as) in Orlando, behind even a modified RoA, that honestly would've been best of both worlds.
