New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

well the Boardwalks was always larger than the Gf's, but why oh why they blocked all the windows up there in the GF store was just stupid. They are doing stupid things like this across the property, like we said before anything that was nice they are doing away with. And yes nothing matters now but grab and go and get out.
I regularly tear into Disney for theme downgrades. And yes 2 of the like 8-10 M Mouse Mercantile windows were closed up in the refresh. The minty sea foam green is beachy and contained INSIDE the store unlike Enchanted Rose’s massive blue wall in the corridor

I just don’t think the M Mouse Mercantile refurbishment was the travesty everyone thinks it was. My hot take. I don’t blame bland merch on a store either. WDW as a whole has bland same thing in every store merchandising for almost 2 decades at this point

I can certainly understand your points...I guess I just don't like any of these mishmash changes they are making. I wish Imagineering was in control, I don't believe they have a hand in any of this being done. Its all local TDO management accountants.

Are you asking legit or being sarcastic lol,,,,in that refresh ( GF ) they blocked the floor windows that went all the way around with shelving etc, so you can't see out anymore, making the whole space feel smaller tighter and unappealing.
I'm being legit, I only went in once since and must not paid attention how awful. 😔 Gazing the monorails come and go was the crown jewel! ✨

Thimbles and Threads reopened with a display featuring thread spools resembling characters!

Anyone able to identify these? They're the only ones I can't place and it's driving me nuts, I'm sure it'll be obvious once it's pointed out but I can't figure it out!

Also, I think this one is supposed to be Figment? Orange at the top and bottom for his horns and claws, purple for his scales and pink for his belly?

from what I've seen, it's generally just brightening up the colors of the store, opening it up for more foot traffic, and adding minor themed touches like the spools, a display case of threads, and some artwork. I think it's a lot blander, I prefer shops to be very themed, but I do think the spools are fun. I just wish I could tell who they all are, lol.

The General Shop window now has changed featuring a rollercoaster but instead of putting plushes of Mickey and the Gang as if they are riding it, but instead they put the Boardwalk merch like tumblers sitting on the rollercoaster vehicles. There isn't any plushes. On the other window is just two mannequin adults one a guy and a girl. What happened is it went from kid friendly windows to now Disney adults to me and no more Mickey and gang plushes in the windows is sad to me.

We are going to continue to downgrade the theming and style in our shops restaurants and resorts...because clearly all it takes is bobbins of colored thread...enjoy your windowless Marriott Minimart....lol
The spools are cool but yes, agrees. For a while Disney has gone in a New direction with merchandising.

" The merchandise is the star".

Not the store:(. I disagree with this philosophy. I think a whimsical store is what brings them in and puts them in a good mood. If they're in a good mood they'll open their wallets.

I remember my first trip to mouse gear when it first opened at Epcot. I got wrapped up in the kinetic energy of that store and did I spend a lot.on the first visit.

Fast forward to 2018 in the and the grand reopening of the world of Disney at what is now Disney Springs..... And it debuts with an absolutely underwhelming industrial look with some minor hands of Craftsman. It was dull. It was boring. I left disappointed and with my wallet closed.

But they've been going in this direction for a while now. Disney must have some data that the money they save by " focusing on the merchandise", aka not spending it on the whimsical magical touches of the store itself, must be paying off at the register. It's not for mine but must be opening up other people's wallets.

I miss the old days when merch was unique to the particular location. If you loved it, you bought it because you didn't know if you'd see it again. Seeing the same t-shirt at ten different stores is not exciting and certainly doesn't compel me to buy ... I can always get it later and given that definitely don't want to carry it around with me all day.

They do have resort-specific merch again. It went away for awhile, but I believe every hotel has some items now. Certainly, every deluxe resort I’ve been to, including BW, YC, and BC.

The first one is Pocahontas. I agree second is Mulan. Because of the white on the other two, I was thinking Uncle Scrooge and Launchpad, but they are not with the other ducks. Then, I thought about Pongo and Perdita, but then there would be more scattered black. Mary Poppins wears a white dress with a red belt, so could the last one be Bert?
