Barges were not in the lagoon yesterday.
And me thought where I stood at The UK the barges were blocked by the Crowne Fish and Chips building! It started to rain a bit as 9pm arrived so I left thinking the rain had delayed it! I can't believve I went with the rain, it didn't really make sense now that I couldn't see the barges even a quarter of it because they are very long. 🥰 Me being there attending The Pointer Sister's got me so distracted that I was taking sunset photos of Spaceship Earth on the lagoon when leaving without noticing lol. 😴

So if Epcot couldn't get the Bridge open all day, why wait till 8:10 to Cancel Luminous? Surely Epcot needs more than just an hour to setup Lum....
Because that show brings in money to the food establishments and retail, people leave to go see happily ever after at 6:00 it’s over, people stay to 8:10 they make their money. Thats also why they do the shows in the round because back then when the shows were viewed form the front the complaint was that they weren’t making money in the countries where the show wasn’t viewable.

According to Don Dorsey (and former WDE Exec Ron Logan's book Walt Disney Entertainment: A Retrospective Look, highly worth a read if you can find it), it was as much to do with complaints from guests about the terrible views (and also from park management about the same) as it was a lack of financial gain. The old shows were terrible at Epcot because the tech and knowledge that got refined over literally a decade wasn't there when Epcot opened...

For me it's more why keep saying it's delayed when it's 9pm. If your announcing at 9pm that the show has been delayed is then not a good sign because then at say 9:20 your then going to say Luminous has been cancelled for this evening when there's no bad weather and people think it was delayed not unable to perform...

I was there that evening to catch Luminous. It was right before it got to 9pm. They announced that Luminous has been delayed. Funny enough I was so focused on the concert that day that it didn't strike me that the barges weren't present also I was standing at the UK a new spot and must thought the barges were hidden behind the UK building from my vantage point.

This thread was created at 8:15 after it was announced at 8:10 that the show was cancelled. Are you saying that they played a delayed announcement at 9 even though they had already announced it was cancelled?

Yup! I was there and actually decided to let go and leave because I felt some rain drops. As soon as I started walking toward the international gateway exit I heard the announcement saying Luminous has been delayed and not cancelled. For me I thought that was due to the weather only because I had not noticed the barges weren't out. It certainly was past 8:30 when I was standing there
