Anyone know what this orange paint is in the runoff after the splashdown?

Mind boggling that they didn't put something to cover this.

Also interesting- they didn't run TBA during Star Wars Nite. Disneyland's hot new ride and they couldn't run it during an up charge event.

So been on Tiana’s a handful of times now including yesterday with a party of 14. I can truly say that for me personally I’m pretty much riding for the ride system only now. The theme is just background noise unfortunately. Which is a shame because I happen to really like the movie. Now that the dust has settled the two biggest losses for me are the music (including the loop heard in the queue and throughout the land) and just having any sort of sense of adventure or tonal variety on the ride experience. It basically comes down to those two things.

The finale is one place they did ok. It doesn’t leave me wanting. Even though I think the scene is inferior, especially “Special Spice” in comparison to Zip, had everything been executed on the level of the finale the replacement could be deemed adequate or acceptable.

I rode yesterday. Waterfall was on and it was still painted that ghastly color. I’m guessing they are just waiting for nature to do its thing? Also, all the grass on top of the old Briar Patch is completely dead. They couldn’t even do that right. What a mess of a project. First Tiana AA wasn’t moving at all with her head down. Worst show I’ve seen for a prominent AA perhaps ever. It’s the only thing on that lifthill. They were better off putting nothing there.

That last little scene with Mama Odie and JuJu isn’t bad either. Mama Odie is a very well made AA and accurate to the film unlike the Tiana impostor and the setting is actually reminiscent of the movie. Kind of feels like your outside At Big Daddy’s mansion. The whole finale should have been set there with Tiana on the balcony.

What did your group think of it?

Most have them have been on it already. My wife thinks the story is mundane and that it just feels like “nothing happens.” I didn’t ask my uncle who was on another log. Actually curious about his opinion because he’s not a super fan but is perceptive, enjoys Disneyland will be able to elaborate on his opinion. And still I think Splash is one of those attractions for the “lay man” where people just might not understand the differences. Especially if you haven’t been on Splash in a while. Most people are just anticipating the drops, enjoying/ trying to avoid getting what and appreciating the music/ scenery. Especially true at DL with the speed of the logs and wet factor. I’d say the loss of Zip and the staging in the finale is something that can be felt by the average Joe though.

My sisters prefer Splash but can’t recall any super strong opinions. The kids/ nephews love it but have also never been on Splash except for my son a couple times who was 5 or 6 at the time. My daughter loves it. It’s wild looking back at that tiny petite 4 year old 28 pounds soaking wet and seeing the anticipation on her face at the top of the lifthill before the big drop. I would say it’s both of their favorite ride in the park right now but I think it just speaks to the strength of the ride system / layout and would say the same thing for their age groups even if it was Splash Mountain.

Even the finale is full of limited motion animatronics that rock back and forth on one axis of motion. That's a far cry from Splash. Far, far cry.

Absolutely and yet it’s not where I’m particularly feeling the lack. At least not in comparison to elsewhere. My goodness the old Lauging place through Burroughs lament is a tragedy.

I rode Tuesday when the ride was up and down a ton (I mean, when is it not anymore?), and the rockwork overhead near the final turn into the station was like a shower. Clearly something was leaking above the rockwork and we got stuck there, before the bridge, for a good 8 minutes with these fat water drops just coming down. They got the ride reopened before they evacuated us, but it looks like they were just going to keep the ride going with the rockwork raining down on logs.

I also wish they would find a better solution for the train peek in. The first chunk of the peek in is still covered. I wonder if it is the fact that the new scene is set at night vs day which makes them want to block out more ambient light. But...once again...shouldn't they have thought of these things BEFORE???

That's what my friend who just rode not too long ago said. In fact that's what most people I know who have ridden Bayou said. Shame that it truly has turned into the "People are only riding it for the drop" excuse people tried to use to slander Splash in it's last weeks.
