What about the Stitch Encounter from Tokyo? With Monsters Laugh Floor and the abandoned Stitch’s Great Escape it seems like it would be an easier fit space-wise.

I think Stitch is gonna lead Tomorrowland into the next decade, for better or worse.

I think when it's time for the Tomorrowland ticket to be punched, they'll redo Cosmic Ray's with the Stitch area due to the glorious mineral known as asbestos. Disney has sorta abandoned Stitch, left him on the side for the last 10 years or so, so once the remake makes a billion dollars and sets the world on fire, Disney is gonna milk an alien.

I for one, welcome our hypothetical Stitch dark ride.

As I’m reading this, I’m getting visions of a basic remodel with a halfway executed retheme and stitch taking over for a retired Sunny. Oh No!

I think when it's time for the Tomorrowland ticket to be punched, they'll redo Cosmic Ray's with the Stitch area due to the glorious mineral known as asbestos. Although unlikely, I'm kinda hoping Cosmic Ray's goes Supers-themed. Same for Speedway, which would be incredibly easy to overlay. :groan: Being closer to Fantasyland and away from most of the space-themed attractions, it's the perfect opportunity to create a new sub-land within Tomorrowland. I feel like the Mod '60s stylizing would work well. The restaurant is nearly there already. Perhaps not the best use of the IP, but between a subtle retheme of the quick service, plus the Speedway overhaul, and just enough space for a dedicated M&G, they could really make something of the area.

FWIW, I feel like Sonny needs to go anyway to give Cosmic Ray's needed dining space. Sorry, Sonny! I guess the counter argument would be by putting Stitch there, the IP would bookend Tomorrowland with another space-themed attraction keeping the land's themes more unified.

Very strange this attraction has been down for such a long time and has no sort of update. Hopefully D23 gives us an update on it, such a weird thing to just leave abandoned. I thought Buzz or Zurg could have been a cool replacement but I guess they just decided to completely revamp the space ranger spin instead. I just don't know what IP could possibly fit there.

Synergy? Timing? Destination D will be taking place in Orlando this time... and piggybacking off the streaming release of Lilo and Stitch on Disney+... and Destination D23 occasional drops a surprise attraction announcement. The most notable examples being the Pirate Tavern addition and Country Bears.

Combined with a heavy dose of fan speculation that Tomorrowland will eventually be updated, the stars might be aligning for some type of announcement at this event. Though, it's also just as likely that Disney will deliver us a big Cosmic Ray's nothingburger. We'll see.

I'd be surprised if there are any major asbestos concerns there.

While I'm sure asbestos was used in the Magic Kingdom's original construction -- it possibly exists in places at EPCOT too (although I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't), but I highly doubt there was ever any at DHS or Animal Kingdom -- they've done many renovations since then. I'd guess it's all been removed at this point, other than in maybe a few scattered areas that have never been touched.

Most of the Magic Kingdom and the rest of the original Phase I of Walt Disney World was abated back at the turn of the century.

People have been speculating on a Tomorrowland re-do for a decade. I'd bet heavily on the nothing burger for this location.

There was rumor of a Wreck-It Ralph-themed ride doing just that many, many years ago.

Edit: Sorry, I thought you meant connected on the "second floor", meaning at the WEDWay level (not enough caffeination today, apparently). There's never been any rumors of connecting those two below the walking surface as far as I can remember.

Most of the park doesn’t have anything under the guest level. The north Tomorrowland building (Cosmic Ray’s and Stich) has a sizable basement but the south building has a much smaller basement. The two basements are also only connected by the corridor.

The common description of Magic Kingdom as being on the “second floor” grossly overstates the size of the utilidors. The Magic Kingdom is not built on a podium. Most of the park doesn’t have anything under the guest level. The north Tomorrowland building (Cosmic Ray’s and Stich) has a sizable basement but the south building has a much smaller basement. The two basements are also only connected by the corridor.

I know there aren't utilidoors under most of the magic kingdom. However, I guess I was really asking if the location of SGE and MILF is high enough about the water table to build a substantial connection between them under the main tomorrowland entrance. (like big enough for a ride to go back and forth).

By "supers Themed" do you mean Incredibles? That would fit the aesthetic... and could work nicely...but a slow gas powered 20th century speedway would never fir The Incredibles and no longer fits the idea of Tomorrowland in any way...Maybe something all new in the space themed to The Incredibles... Redo the Ice Cream place to A'La Mode and theme it to Edna Mode... Sonny Eclipse is not original to the park, and I would be up for replacing him with something better....but not removed for more seating... it would not add enough to make it worthwhile, and the entertainment aspect of something in that dining room would be a major loss.
