I wish this would have existed a few years ago when I was creating these kinds of presentations and reports manually for grad school/undergrad. While I'd probably spend a fair bit of time checking it for accuracy, adding in some other bits, and getting more specific sources, this is game changing.

It's definitely useful for things that don't really matter - like this thread. For actual things that matter, I do the real research

Certainly was unexpected. I did not think we'd be seeing a new Disney destination so soon, let alone in this area of the world.
Why not? Sea World , Warner Bro and others have made their imprints in the Middle East. Even better Miral company is financing building and operating the upcoming Disney park in Abu Dhabi.

It's better at making PowerPoint style presentations than many humans I've had to work with...
Despite its $1 billion price tag, the Warner Bros. park has really bad animatronics and uninteresting rides. I mean, these are barely a step above department store displays:

A good chunk of that billion probably went to profit for the design company working on the project. The exact involvement of WB itself in the project beyond giving final approval is questionable... You think they'd have higher standards!

I mean, as a strictly numbers decision is makes perfect sense.

Disney will make plenty in licensing, franchise, and consulting fees, while at the same time they managed to knock Epic Universe out of the theme park discussion.
Epic surely took a back seat to the grand announcement of Disney making a presence known in the Middle East. TWDC caught the world by surprise with this news.

Good day for Universal to announce they are shutting down the new Potter ride for about the last week of previews - definitely got a bit buried
Internet reviewers have turned on Epic a bit recently due to serious operational issues mixed with the usual Universal park ops issues. They had better turn things around quickly. Big fans are visiting now and they’re getting big angry.

Yep…good timing

They should give everyone a free fastpass to an “experiency experience” down the road 😉

Part of me was thinking, “Yeah, this Abu Dhabi park, with all its love of sophisticated technology and futuristic architecture, this could have a trickle down effect on helping the stateside parks’ Tomorrowlands.”

Then I remember the last time they built a new park in a city with the love of sophisticated technology and futuristic architecture, all we got out of it was one Tron clone in Florida.

I cannot believe that Disneyland’s Tomorrowland is STILL in such trashy shape!

That new theme park will surely hear the roar of the engines when the annual Formula 1 Abu Dhabi race comes to town.

They had a legit NASCAR racetrack in the Magic Kingdom's parking lot for over a decade. And yes, you could hear the cars from the park (and even worse, in those expensive Polynesian rooms too). The bigger issue is the crowds that show up for those things, but Abu Dhabi has more than enough hotel rooms/attractions to deal with it.
