News Magic Kingdom's Main Street Emporium Under Construction, Shortcut Blocked

You know what's funny?
How did Apple think their retail was inappropriate for Walt Disney World? Because they didn’t open the Disney Springs store?
Only saying that IF Apple did buy WDW/Disney at that time people were suggesting it around here, they would know better than to think their Apple store model (and its minimalist design) would work at or is appropriate for WDW retail/merch outlets like Connections, etc.

Walt Disney Imagineering only approves design and they’re fine with deviations. Apple wasn’t even slated for a stand alone building that they would have built themselves.
Surely they wouldn't have been fine with such a massive deviation though, is my point? Besides a few outlier Spring is very much thematically consistent. Apple's sores are not. Probably an understatement actually...

Aesthetics were not an issue. Apple also does not demand a specific exterior and has stores in some ornate buildings.

Amazing they refurbish the Emporium space just to stuff it full of inexpensive trinkets and stuffed animals.

To be fair, the last few times I was in there, it felt mostly full of inexpensive trinkets and stuffed animals. Long gone are the days of movies, books, office items, kitchen accessories, et al. Basically anything of interest to anyone over the age of 8.

I miss the bookstore that used to be in MGM. Disney owns a pretty good sized publisher - the lack of bookstores on property strikes me as odd.

Writers Stop, def the best. Its sad how the majority of shops in that park are gone, they have consolidated everything into just a few places left and eradicated anything with charm like writers stop. :banghead:
