I'd like to know if this is just a one off adventure with the D+ crew or if it really does advance some over arching story.

Okay review time! The movie starts off strong with us being reintroduced to yelena belova working for contessa de Fontaine. She’s having a bit of an existential crisis and goes to her father red guardian for help. After a visit with dear old dad she calls the contessa wanting more heroic work. Fontaine agrees but wants her to do one more job first. Yelenas task? To stop someone from breaking in to one of the contessas facilities. But she finds out it’s a setup! She has been sent here along with the ghost (Ava star) US agent (John walker) and taskmaster to destroy each other. Taskmaster is killed in a very unceremonious way that is honestly a disappointing end to her character (and I say that as someone who doesn’t care for this version of the character) in the middle of everyone fighting a seemingly normal man named bob appears out of nowhere. Everyone decides to team up to escape the facility Before the room there in catches on fire. So that’s basically the entire first act. The movie is very funny and heartwarming at the same time. As for how this fits into the larger may narrative let’s just say there’s some big revelations at the end that will you leave you reeling.

Is John Walker also Ego's son?

Regrading the post-credits scene, I’m curious to find out what is going on in space. Incursions or something else?
My guess (just a guess so not spoilers) is in F4 Reed discovers that Galactus has entered their universe via an incursion and after they defeat him they go to investigate and try to close it end up being sucked into the 616, which is what the Thunderbolts see in the post-credits scene. This would be similar to Monica getting sucked into the X-Men universe at the end of Marvels.

We'll find out in July.

I was kind of hoping the Taskmaster would return in the third act and then unmask and it would be Zemo. And speaking of the third act, it needed an action scene going on with the other characters, inter-cut with Yelena being in the Void by herself.
