Trip Report I Think I Can Sing "Jessie's Girl" Backwards

Over the years we've(E, J & myself) have done quite a few last minute trips to Disney. Not really out of the ordinary for us, esp. years ago before J was in school. It was pretty easy to just pick up & go with not much notice. Now, in present times it's not so easy, esp. when we were going to have already been there less than 2 weeks prior to this trip(J's birthday trip).

So, I might as well get the big disappointment out of the way now. J was not with us on this trip.
You have JSR to thank for that. He had already missed 2 days of school a few weeks prior for his birthday trip & dad didn't want him to miss another day for this one.👎 And, even though this was a super short(48 hours) trip he was missed tremendously!!

Here's who you will see
IMG_5182.JPEG

I'm pretty sure you know everyone but just in case--our niece-H, our friend-S, the person that wanted to go on this trip more than any of us-R, E & myself.

And, the star of this TR(hey, someone had to try to take J's place!!)

2 weeks before the birthday trip R told me that Rick Springfield was going to be playing at Flower & Garden. I knew that & I also knew(b/c he's played there for years) that one day I would end up having to go there to see him. Now, before you get the wrong idea, I'm not the Rick Springfield fan, R is!! I do like his music, he does put on a great show & contrary to what most people believe he does have a lot more hits than just "Jessie's Girl" & "Don't Talk to Strangers". However, R is the big fan-not me. I ended up liking his music b/c of R. Would I fly to Disney for 2 nights to see him perform after I had just been there 2 weeks prior? Absolutely not!! But, when R offered to pay for the room & my flight I totally changed my mind!!

We booked a Lion King Suite at AoA. I told him we had to call E to see if she & J wanted to come. As I said earlier J couldn't but E was on board. I talked to H and told her we still had room so she decided to come also. E mentioned it to S & he decided to come too!! Big mistake though-he booked a Lion King Suite also. All that room for one person!! We should have thought to tell him to get a Little Mermaid room.

We originally were going to fly down Sunday late afternoon after I got done working. We were to return Tuesday morning b/c I had to work the late shift that day. Then we decided b/c it was such a short trip that we would take the 5:00am flight on Sunday-let me tell you, I'm getting way too old for that(says the girl who's doing it again in October). I asked my boss for Sunday off & we were good to go.

You know what that meant--an extra night of Rick Springfield shows!!😧

After getting up at the ungodly hour of 1:30(is that even healthy?) here we were at 8:00am!!
IMG_5109.JPEG

And by 8:30 we were here!!
IMG_5110.JPEG

Funny how we can't make it to a park this early when we're already on property yet we can flying from Pittsburgh!!

We were all starving b/c nothing was open in the Pittsburgh airport before we took off so we made a reservation here on our way to AK.

My breakfast. It was good but the service was so slow!! We were all getting aggravated!!

R's breakfast.

H, S & I rode EE while E & R sat by "what once was Rivers of Light" and had some Safari Ambers.
IMG_5118.JPEG

Then we decided to catch FotLK. I love this show!!
IMG_5119.JPEG

Then it was time to head out!! It was a quick but fun visit to AK!!

We had to head to R&C-as I said earlier, we are part Irish & it was St. Patrick's Day!!☘️
Couple of years ago I had a very sweet patient (that was an alcoholic) who came in and said Dr I have to tell you something. I fell off the wagon a couple of weeks ago. I said oh what happened? And he said well it was St Patty's day.
And I said but Bobby (not his real name) you're not Irish. And he said, yes but I felt the need to celebrate with them!
Every St Patrick's Day I think of him.:)

I hope you had a fun St Patrick's day and loving the quick trip report!

Finally, I am!! I know it's taken me a bit--sorry!! I just want you to know, that even though I'm behind in these, you're the reason I started doing them again-I promised you that day at the pump even though I didn't do it when I said I would. I was so exhausted that whole weekend. I think I'm finally recovering!!
I'm sorry you don't live that close. I'm there all the time(I live in North Hills). I have their credit card so I get the extra .15 off per gallon. It's pretty much the only place I get gas so I'm sure I'll run into you again someday!!:D
Aww! Im so glad that you did start writing them again! We actually are out in that area most Saturdays because we belong to the Midwest Shooting Range so I'm sure we'll see you again! I "think" we actually live closer to your sister & J because we have seen them at Sams Club at the Pittsburgh Mills few times!! Ok, now I feel like a stalker!! I really hope one day we are in Disney at the same time and can meet up at Baseline (a fav of ours also). Our next trip is May 10-24 we are celebrating our 30 yr Anniversary. Do you have anything planned in May?

And love hanging out with you too. I wish you had a trip planned for the last part of June.
I always enjoy you!! I wish I did too-but due to all our summer commitments, work, etc. this was the only time that would work. And it's not even working well. We're missing 2 nieces & 1 nephews combined high school graduation party while we're away. I feel horrible about it.

You know how the saying goes, "Everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day!!" ☘️
That's a cute story!!
We did have fun & thank you so much my dear friend!!😘
Oh if someone else is paying I’d certainly go!
Right!!
I must be honest - my first thought was: did he not get enough naps in two weeks earlier? 😉🤣
That is absolutely hysterical!!
He was so excited for this that he didn't nap at all!!

Unfortunately, I do not. You never know though!!
I would definitely love to meet up!! And no, you're not a stalker!! But, if you've seen E with J on multiple occasions I guarantee you had to see here hollering at him!! She's a "no nonsense" type of mom!!
I usually work the late shift Saturdays(as I did the day I saw you) but if you're out & about in the morning before I have to work I'd love to meet you for coffee!!

Haha, actually he was in trouble one time I saw them when they were walking thru the parking lot...it really didnt seem to phase him he just kept walking & didnt say anything-probably know better! I am number 7 of 8 kids so my parents didnt put up with anything either - I get it. I would love to meet up for coffee sometime. Im not sure how to send a private message on here because I only read on here-if I figure it out I can PM u my cell # if you dont mind exchanging #'s...

Wow... I like Rick Springfield... but you must have deep love for R to see that show 6 times! lol I do hope our plans overlap again in the future. Maybe you will convince us to try Baseline with you!
I did what I had to do...he paid for the trip so I guess it's the least I could do!! I do love him also!!
I was so excited to meet you & Ross!! I would love to meet the rest of your family also!! And yes, Baseline it will be!! Such a nice, relaxed atmosphere to sit & talk!!

Let me tell you, J's always in trouble!! E will be hollering at him(& BTW rightfully so) & he'll look at me & roll his eyes. I do have to remind him that she's my sister & I don't appreciate him disrespecting her for many reasons!! But, overall he is a great kid & so much fun to be around!!
Gosh, I know everything has its pluses & minuses but I am number 1 of 9!! And it stinks!! Not only did my parents not put up with crap, I was always told if my younger siblings were bad it was my fault b/c I wasn't setting a good example!! I'm the oldest in the chain & E is #6!!
I'll send you a PM with my number & we'll go from there!!

So, we left off with Pepe's Special & I wanted to make sure you all knew that PCB was there for the fun!!

We had a dining package at Le Cellier for the 5:30 show. God bless my family & friends b/c they didn't even want to attend that show!!

I'm not going to go into detail but the gentleman sitting across from us with his parents had a medical emergency. Long story short, he has brain tumors but has been good for quite a number of years, as we found out. Unfortunately, he started taking a seizure at dinner. H, my niece, jumped into action(she's a nurse) & handled the situation so professionally. The paramedics had to take him out in an ambulance. She was so amazing & absolutely knew the right thing to do!! I'm so proud of her!! Disney was thankful & comped her meal(including an extra adult beverage!!).
IMG_5203.JPEG

So many guests were telling her how awesome she was & what a "rockstar" she is for doing what she did!! Being her aunt I obviously know her & I can tell you that I'm not surprised. She's an amazing woman & I couldn't be more proud of her!!
Here's our desserts!!

What's a trip to Disney without a visit to The Tambu Lounge?? I was excited to be back at The Polynesian-even though it had only been 12 days!!

This is where I did get a little sad. E, H & S were headed to MK for the rest of the day. R & I were headed to Epcot for Day 1 of Rick Springfield. He was playing 3 shows on Sunday & 3 on Monday. Yes, I promised him that I would go to all 6 shows.

I do love the Epcot views from the monorail-esp. during Flower & Garden!!

Once inside we had to head right to our dining reservation. We got the Flower & Garden dining package for the 8:00 show. This was a new one for R & myself. I was never drawn to eating here b/c I'm not a fan of German food(sorry, I hope I'm not offending anyone). But, if it makes you feel any better I'm part Irish & I think it's some of the worst food going!!

And the entertainment was so much fun!!

We both loved it!!
Seriously, if you haven't tried this before I encourage you to do it!! We booked it b/c there were very few restaurants that had reservations left for the Flower & Garden package. I was a bit hesitant but I'm so glad we ate there!! I don't have a picture but we had an apple strudel for dessert that was delicious!! I look forward to going back again!!

The only downfall was the service. Our waiter took our drink orders. R got a Coke. The waiter asks me if I want one. I specifically said "no, I don't like or drink colas". I ordered a water. What did I get? A Coke. Then R & I both ordered beers. It took awhile but we finally got them. He was MIA for so long that another server noticed us sitting there forever & apologized to us & said that he was new. We paid, got our tickets & headed to Round 1.

We’ve been to Biergarten Restaurant a few times over the years, and have always enjoyed both the food and the entertainment…glad to hear y’all did, as well…!!! :)
I’m about 75% Czech and the rest is, essentially, German. My wife is about 75% German and the rest is mostly English with some Czech thrown in. Certain parts of Texas are filled with people of both Czech and German descent, so we’ve been to many dance halls with polka bands over the years…we’re both in our 60’s and have much extended family, so weddings and such, too.
Our 2 granddaughters enjoyed it with us all in June of last year, as well…!!!!! :inlove::happy:
My apologies for the short story, but, again, I’m very glad y’all had a great time there…!!! :)
