There's going to be cranes and wall for many years to come in MK!

Cranes at BTM and in that area are totally comparable to cranes near Cinderella Castle.

The tiles mess up the projections.

The wires mess up the projections.

They're probably going to paint the whole thing flat white, just another screen.

Yup yup.

Just going to take the opportunity to bring up just how much I loathe projections on the castle and other surfaces that aren't meant to be display screens. Such a stupid and bad idea that the lowest common denominators have fallen in love with and fall all over themselves to defend.

Honestly.....

Do we have confirmation yet on what work is getting done? There's a rumor on X already if you search Starlight.....
I've been saying this since we've seen concept art that I really don't think it's just a coincidence that the castle sparkles / looks starry in every piece of concept art we've seen for the parade so far. It makes perfect sense that the Blue Fairy lead float would "activate" the castle as she passes by it. I feel like lasers could do the trick and possibly (hopefully not) projections, but both of those would be obscured by the larger floats as they pass the castle so having something physically on the castle like integrated lighting would solve that issue.

IDK if we should believe that rumor ill we get confirmation.....

I've heard rumblings of a new castle stage show on the horizon, as well. Which tracks as Dream Along had a near 10 year run. Friendship Faire opened in 2016.
Interesting, I'd still like MMFF. The Magic will really Feel Like Home this Summer, Hopefully!!!

Back in the day MK sometimes did 2 Different Shows a day. Would be nice if MK could add one.

Deleted to move into the MMFF thread ... Agreed! I think it has run it's course, however.

These updates would be really easy wins for Disney to fill the gap before Tropical Americas.

As for the rumor regarding LED castle upgrade ... this would be a nice olive branch to all those still mourning the dreamlights..

If it’s for Starlight they better get this started quickly.
If the lights are truly integrated into the roof turrets my guess is it wouldn't take that long and would fabricated as whole pieces and placed overtop of the current roofs akin to what Disneyland does for their snow, twinkling roofs.

If they are actually getting replaced then the demo/removal of the turret roofs would take significantly longer yes.

When Castle Lights became permanent in Paris, how did DLP do it?

I'm not sure if Paris did this, but Martin stated some years back that at one point a project was being cooked up to permanently install LED lights inside the walls of Cindy's castle at WDW to make the Dreamlights a permanent fixture. Like drilling small holes and filling them with small quarter-sized gray colored disks that would have been pretty much invisible unless you got really close. No more annual installation, and no visible netting and wires as apparently the electrical infrastructure would have been hidden within the interior instead.

Never happened of course, and cost cutting measures nixed the Dreamlights entirely as projection was deemed as "good enough" to replace it. I'd be surprised if they ever return at this point, despite rumors in past years that they might. They instead went with new Christmas entertainment that was much cheaper and yielded them a nice profit.
