MK New Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Updates Coming to Walt Disney World

I saw it. My point stands. These complaints all seem "Old man tells at cloud" to me. There's no benefit to guests or Disney to wait until the refurb is done to tell people about the changes. The anticipation you speak of could only result in people creating unrealistic expectations for what's being done. You talk about people "moving on" to other things as if this announcement was ever intended or expected to drive attendance when it isn't. There also wasn't anything that indicates this won't reopen until September 2026, which would be the 18 months you stated.

But if you want some mystery, they teased the new targets open "the door for a few other ideas Imagineers have in mind."
I’m so excited for the new Test Track! They’re adding a loop!

So there are unrealistic expectations for Test Track but they’re not extreme?
You really like to imply things that were never said and disagree for the sake of disagreement.

Nowhere did I say that unrealistic expectations were not extreme. In fact I was pointing out that they WERE extreme and unnecessary just the same as yours and others reactions to this announcement have been.

I have you just don’t seem capable of reading what peoole said versus what you think they are saying…
But you also seem incapable of understanding why they chose to release this information now. As you know and have pointed out yourself they usually don’t provide this much information when a refurbishment is announced.

Yes and you called it an extreme example…

Surely the marquee attraction that closed with little provided about its updates would be a prime example of why they need to make such early announcements.
I called what you were doing extreme.

The fact that they closed that marquee attraction with little to know updates and still have been rather vague about what’s happening should tell you all that you need to know.

There were other factors leading them to make this announcement for this closure. You’ve just decided to deliberately ignore and misunderstand that.

So you contradict yourself saying I haven’t said… yet say you did see it.

I get it… you don’t get showmanship and would rather eat ice cream for dinner.

Cya
No, I saw your posts and they make no coherent case for why this is bad or why withholding information would be better. I realize that people online tend to be jaded, but the complaining about this is absurd. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I hear the ice cream man.

No - i heard your point… but in case you haven’t noticed no one else is arguing that justification. I don’t agree with their reasoning- but the posts you are replying to aren’t even about that. So … meaningless

My post wasn’t about my point. I’m telling you their actual reasoning and justification here. Like it or not. But I’m honestly not sure why you’d disagree with their reasoning given the circumstances

Because I don’t think it’s the better of the outcomes. The folks who are upset about closures are not going to change their emotions based on knowing the exact ride changes. They are either going to be bothered selfishly no matter what, or buy into the idea that the sacrifice is worth the larger gain. And I don’t think knowing the detail they are getting would exceed their own imagination. And the decision also undermines the future marketing potential.

The ones that will buy into “closure being worth it” would be convinced by just knowing the attraction will be plussed.

Marketing is critical dependent on timing - and while they may think this carrot will buy them the goodwill they seek - I don’t think it will move the needle and hinders the effort.

Like i said, i heard your telling of their slideware… it doesn’t mean their choice is necessarily the best one. It was just their conclusion- and i disagree with it.

Then spell it out.
You must have missed all the speculation talk on the Test Track thread bout the ride becoming an updated World of Motion, bringing back It's Fun to be Free and enclosing the outdoor track after the initial announcement of Test Track 3.0.
The main complaint people seem to be having with this whole thing is that it was announced too early. But the whole point of the announcement was to say this wasn't a standard refurb but an update. What's the harm in that and clarifying some details 🤷‍♂️?

I'm surprised this has become so heated. Not even the additions to Buzz, but the fact they have announced them.

At any rate, it does also strike me that there is a lot of fan anxiety about and hostility to the destruction of Rivers of America and addition of Cars in Frontierland amidst the general bad feeling around the cost and complexity of a WDW vacation. In addition to helping to soothe those who might get annoyed about another attraction being down, they probably want to put as much out there as possible that promotes the notion they're investing in the parks on things of which almost everyone will approve. This is that sort of 'good news story' they can put out at a time they need it that almost everyone will take as a positive... or so they thought!
