I hope the dark ride will be a step up in scariness from Haunted Mansion but still family friendly. I dont expect them to do something like Monsters Unchained.

My guess is the dark ride will be fairly tame - like a more lighthearted HM featuring a bunch of the Villains showing them concocting their plans and arguing over stuff, etc.

And then the coaster will provide the thrills - not like Veliocoaster level but definitely most thrilling in MK ad will provide some kinetic energy to the area and hearing people scream (like you can when around Everest)

I guess you're right. I would love for Chernabog to make an appearance sort of like the finale boss but I feel like since he's a "demonic entity" it will upset a certain demographic.

Especially with rumors of them wanting to take out things like the hanging scene in the preshow, I could see them even going tamer than HM

While Universal is playing to its advantage of being able to get away with darker/scarier things, Disney might play to its advantage of scale/grandeur/spectacle. While Universal is certainly doing scale/grandeur/spectacle as well, Disney still has an edge there both because of the space and (if I understand correctly) because their attendance allows for faster ROI turnaround times.

Well, Chernabog is featured in the promo art for the new Villains. show coming to DHS so don't think he is off limits. Maybe could appear in the coaster during an inside scene

What does everyone think the chances are that Villains land has a second entrance located in fantasyland between enchanted tales with belle and the Pinnochio bathrooms? This would move a portion of the new land just behind the haunted mansion and small world show buildings.

Potential benefits would be improved crowd flow by creating a loop rather than a dead end. A more logical story as you could access the land by passing through fantasyland and traveling through some kind of dark corridor. Maybe it would be a spooky forest, or a cave? They would have to accommodate the service road back there that goes behind small world and HM, but they have built themed guest pathways that go under or over service roads before, especially in Tokyo DisneySea.

I like the idea because it would create some breathing room around the east and north side of big thunder mountain by shifting villains further east. Which may allow them to leave a section of the river as a divider between BTMRR and Villains. Parts of the track go over the RoA currently, and if they remove the river in that section it would require a lot of extra theming or some kind of boundary. Whereas leaving a stretch of the north west portion of RoA as some kind of water feature/narrow lake seems like it would be a viable option if Villains land was further east behind those show buildings. Water in this area is potentially supported by the concept art.

Thoughts?

Highly unlikely as it would be quite expensive to fly over the Utilidoor entrance. I think it's a great, but expensive idea.

I think the "second entrance" will just be two portal type entrances, akin to how Fantasy Springs is a dead end but still has two massive entry/exit areas just right next to each other as seen below. Then again the Fantasy Springs entrance also has a two lane road on top of it so it may not be as large as that.

The thing is that there isn’t really a good spot to put a fantasyland entrance. The proposed locations are either too far away or too difficult to build on. We are most likely to get the one entrance and if there is ever a fantasyland expansion to the north then it would probably connect to that.

To comment on the remaining ROA portion, you can kinda see in the concept art that there is still going to be water around Thunder Mountain. I think the water around Big thunder and maybe even going a bit further down, maybe to the shooting arcade. Hard to tell, it would be really good if they kept a good part of the river. I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney revised the concept art in the future to keep the river but incredibly smaller and wouldn’t go all the way around.

I didn't realize that was the main entrance to the Utilidoors back there. I see it now....

Calling it a fly over is accurate as it would have to be an elevated bridge over the entrance below. Seems very unlikely now that I understand that.

sigh... a guy can dream. Thanks for the clarity

I'm also holding onto that hope! Maybe Villains land could have a waterfront area too...? across from Big Thunder

I can think of 2 times Disney did guest paths over road.

The not as immersive one is in downtown disney at DLR

The second one is super impressive at the EPCOT international gateway. There are 2 roads and river that pass under a guest path and another river... and I've never noticed it while walking there. So it is possible.
