After he messed them up, crapped on their fans, and played wounded first
I don't know about messed them up. I prefer the special editions over the 4k77,4k80,4k83 versions and I like the prequel trilogy. I also like the Clone Wars, Rebels, the original EU and Rogue One/Andor. This is coming from continued huge fan since day 1 but that is just me.

The other two parts I agree with you. However, I'd still rather have him back then more crap from Disney.

I don’t hate the special editions…whith the exception of the mess up of the flow and one of the best music transitions/sequences In the whole she-bang…at the end of empire

Meh, there are others. I made my peace with the prequels and the SE.

Was just cruising through some of this thread, and it brought back memories.
I have a particular affinity for the original trilogy films.
Back in mid 1977, a local morning news show had (a relative unknown, and live in the studio) Mark Hamill as a guest, promoting Star Wars, as I was getting ready for school.
They played part of the “Great, kid! Don’t get c ocky.” clip, and I was immediately wowed…I had never seen anything like this in a movie before…!!!
I remember the interviewer being very amazed, as well, and wishing him the best of luck.
Who really knew, but, as they say, the rest is history…!!!
As far as everything that ever came after those 3 movies, I couldn’t care less if tried. 🤷‍♂️

That’s a really cool memory!

I don't hate them either. I can't say I love em though. What bugs me the most is the fact that it's the only choice. I'll throw in my thx remastered editions on laser disc before I'll watch the special editions. Just give us a remastered theatrical edition.
That is one of the most ridiculous things of all lucasdom

“We destroyed the originals”

What crap 🙄

I don't think they did. The Holiday Special might be gone too since tv often reused old tapes. The BBC did that to a lot of Doctor Who episodes.

If it is, that is as bad a Marvel destroying the Fantastic Four film from 90s. Roger Corman made it to comply with the license. Marvel reimbursed Corman for the movie and never released it to theaters. It's a shame because the story is far better than anything we got later. They should release it with updated CG.

I did just watch Star Wars (1977) (I think the Laserdisc version) on CinemaBox. Someone uploaded it. It didn't have Episode IV on the opening crawl. When Han shoots Greedo, there is just an explosion and Greedo falls over. No blaster bolt. I think the 4K77 version has a blaster bolt.

You mean the biggest source of grief for the whole era?

Regarding his quote, What does this mean?

"We also feel like, oh my god, we better not get confident, we better not be smoking our own here, we better, like, really... Holy crap, we put the bar down here, and we're gonna get crushed if we don't deliver. We're gonna really, and we've seen, and we know, you see all the other shows, you see other shows where people had trouble sticking the landing, and you're like, 'Oh, my god, we have to,' like, so there's a new pressure. There's a new pressure, but then there's also, you do have the pride of what you did before, and you have a system that works."

It said he backpedaled a bit by saying "all the other shows" didn't stick the landing. That's not a backpedal, it's the truth. It isn't just star wars by any means. But the only shows for star wars to really stick the landing were mando season 1 & 2 and andor. Book of Boba? Nope. Mando season 3? Not really. Kenobi? Absolutely not. Acolyte? God no. Ashoka? Nope. I won't comment on skeleton crew as I haven't seen it yet. Good on him for saying what most of have been saying this whole time.

Skeleton Crew didn't stick the landing either but no one noticed since no one watched it.
