MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Ugh I hate that the cars ride is a thing because (in addition to the other obvious reasons) now I feel like it makes my dream of the speedway becoming a Sugar Rush racing ride even more unlikely
take it from me, a muppet movie ride and fire mountain stan:

I think someone else brought this up recently but do we know why they announced electric cars in the CA version and not FL?

There is a lot more push to get rid of gas engines in CA than in FL including for things like lawnmowers, etc so not surprising they would feel more of an urgency to replace the engines at DLR than WDW

So here at DL we get to keep our Autopia, Jungle Cruise and ROA? Don’t get me wrong I hate this decision for MK and don’t like the precedent it sets at all but perhaps a silver lining for me would be if there’s some grand plan to diversify the parks and just let Disneyland be the park with the classic attractions stateside due to its history and having the flagship versions of the most of the classic/ duplicated attractions.

I doubt diversifying has anything to do with it or that it has anything more to do with maximizing revenue in that part of the park. Besides I could think of way better ways to diversify the parks then getting rid of the ROA. You could start with a brand new POTC at MK (if logistics allow) Add Villains land. Add something great Beyond Big Thunder. Add all of that to Tron, CBJ, and 7DMT and you’ve done a pretty great job of diversifying and giving MK its own identity.

Still popular though - it is my son's favorite attraction at all of WDW, one we usually wind up doing multiple times each trip

Not saying that doesn't mean it shouldn't be replaced or at least updated/changed but there is a segment of the guests that do still like it
if there's one thing I've learned from (mostly) this side of the forums, it's that any attraction will always, always have its fans, no matter how poorly executed or (in this case mainly) bare it is

the main hook isn't a distinctly "Disney" one, either - I recall someone on Twitter said in response to these news that most kids would have more fun at a trampoline park than a Disney park, and that stuck out to me because that's exactly how I feel whenever someone makes a case for the Speedway

I think the logical assumption on that is that Autopia is staying at DL but that the Speedway at MK is going to go the way of the submarines and sink.

The rumor is that this mysterious second Cars attraction is essentially a replacement for the Speedway so that they can close it and use that land in Tomorrowland for something else.
Too many Disney fans think everything is part of a grand master plan.

I feel like you can pretty clearly see which classic attractions they value based on the Imagineering media they put out, and Jungle Cruise is one of them. Space Mountain, Peter Pan, Small World, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, Pirates, and Jungle Cruise basically suck up 90% of the attraction airtime in any related D+ show. I feel they’re the safest bets for persistence under the current regime, even if they get heavily reimagined.

That’s my issue here…. There is no master plan that makes any of this particularly promising. Does the fancy rockwork of new fantasyland make it that much better? I think the prettiest fantasyland is in Paris with simple streams and hedges.

So yes we get new fancy rockwork which will either compliment or compete with big thunder. Yay.

I agree but I will add they used to show Splash everywhere. I found an old MK map in one of my jackets and it has Splash on front page, Zip-a-dee-doo-dah was practically their theme song, heard everywhere.

I am just saying, you never know with todays Disney.

I am curious what the data is on how popular jungle cruise is on LL. I feel like it almost rivals Peter Pan in demand and from my experience it goes quickly in the morning for LL options

It’s funny how they did a whole big 30th anniversary push and then BOOM! Dead. Will always be funny how that worked out. To me it feels like the theme park equivalent of Tommy getting whacked in goodfellas. He thought he was getting “made”

I meant more in how people think X happening over there indicates Y should be happening over here. That’s just not how the company functions. More often than not the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. But people want to believe it’s all part of a grand vision.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is one of the best theme parks in the country.
Oh, the THEMING is great. I'm not denying that. If you like roller coasters and thrill rides, it's fantastic.

Plus, it has Sesame Street characters!
So I feel a bit on edge for some things. So anything can be taken out really.
That's honestly how I'm feeling too.
it will never not astound me that the Speedway - an experience the likes of which can be found in virtually near any local amusement park - is still standing.
And it takes up so much room. That land could be put to better use, couldn't it?

Of course, with our luck they'd probably replace it with something even crappier. Like a Wish ride.

I like MK's POTC. I think the hate for it is a bit much. The queue is great...one of my favorite places to be in the parks. And there's enough of the POTC experience to satisfy me.

I get that. Probably how I felt about losing our TOT. Certainly better than no POTC. Maybe I’m off but I feel like it would be easier getting more people on board replacing the classic but cliff notes version of POTC for a modern Shanghai like POTC than it would be losing the ROA for a Cars ride. The ROA impacts an entire quadrant of the park. POTC is contained in a show building and at least you’d still have the superior and original version in Anaheim.

I could live with that, provided DL's stays forever.
