Disneyland Ticket Price/Attendance Discussion

I saw that Disney is offering another heavily discounted ticket promotion starting in January to May. They also have an offer for this winter as well as this past summer. They also have a child ticket discount for next year too.

Seems day ticket buyers are not paying the prices Disney has been charging. I knew summers were low attendance for many years now from my own experience and the deals that are constantly offered.

But now with the Christmas season being part of ticket offers and then early january, seems we are at a state where Disneyland has to offer year round significant admission discounts to get the attendance numbers they need.

Is anyone in Burbank going to adjust ticket prices? Why throw out year round promotions instead of just pricing accordingly?

Remember when Christmas and Summer were the busy season? Seems Disney has priced customers out with being too aggressive with their ticketing tiers.

There's no way they would have constant promotions unless there was some trouble with attendance numbers.

Next week the fun starts when all pass holders are blocked out. I'm curious to hear trip reports then. It might be a great experience for those that can go.

I will definitely be letting people know if it's crowded pandemonium or the "could be confused with an average summer day" crowds that seemed to dominate last year, at least based on wait times.

Before the pandemic, I used to time my December trips the week before Christmas because most passes were blocked out and kids usually have the weeks of Christmas and New Years off of school, so it was a sweet spot where crowds were usually pretty low.

If I had to predict, next week.......particularly the 18th-20th will probably be light because all except the Inspire keys will be blocked. The week after, even though all passes are blocked, is vacation time so I think it would be more crowded that week.

I'm certain it will be, though I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised when I kept checking the app last year during hell week and waits weren't that much worse than what I'm used to dealing with. Hoping for the best, bracing for the worst.

Thats why Disney in their infinite wisdom instead of adjusting prices accordingly has a ticket promotion good til Dec 27.

The whole week is 206 dollars a day for normal prices but this offer makes it 330 for 3 non consecutive days for the holiday season.

Sounds like the tier pricing does not accurately reflect demand when they have to drop promotions during what is usually the busiest week of the year.

Looks like the parks were pretty busy, even DCA.

Was there around Christmas, can vouch for busyness.

Wait times weren't really that different from what I'm used to for the most part (aside from RSR and ROTR), but the parks and vibes of the crowds were definitely *crazier* than I've ever seen them. They got crowded about an hour earlier than normal and there were some nasty security lines from the Harbor side that I'm thankful I was able to skip by entering through the Toy Story Lot.

Just for clarification the So Cal Ticket deal didnt start until the 1st of January. Disneyplus ticket deal ended the 27th.

Even before reservations Dec 26-27 were considered the busiest day of the year and Dec 27 gates closed almost every year(prior to 2020) for capacity issues. I feel its because people got Disney tickets for Christmas and also Rose Bowl teams/family are in town for the game.

Its interesting how days can be "busy" when we have a reservation system in place. Shouldn't Disney be able to adequately staff the park since they know exactly how many people are coming in?

More likely they use that data to staff the bare minimum amount of CM’s required.
