It's amazing to me that WDI had four years to come up with a better version of Splash Mountain... and this was the best they could do.

Hopefully they just stop messing with the classics for a bit because clearly they're not up to the task. If I was D'Amaro, I'd be worried about Disneyland Forward if this is what Disney can do these days.

I like the new placements for the animatronics. The other additions like the firefly trails being more pronounced, Ray and Evangeline in the bayou, and Tiana and Louis’s additional dialogue were also nice.

First stream video was a little tough to gauge with the way the livestream kept popping in and out leading to what felt like some jumpy edits, but overall the pacing definitely feels better (that I can see) when compared to Orlando's.

Looking forward to a high quality vid and to see it in person. The giant "Tiana's Foods" sign after the first Tiana figure looks awful. But other than that, assuming they can get the kinks in the animatronics ironed out, what I saw looked pretty good. So far my biggest gripes continue to be the murals on the outside of the barn and the big, ugly Tiana's Food sign during the outdoor portion.

I think the sign is that big to block the evacuation stairs.

Two videos I've seen so far have had a log jam in the former Burrow's Lament, those were a little rough to see. I wonder if they took this commonplace occurrence into consideration or not.. because the firefly screen/bottle isn't all that entertaining when backed up here. Especially when the musical choice for this moment feels high energy, the log backup feels noticeably more painful. Like, you want to be movin' and groovin' during this song but you're just.. stuck.

At least a log jam during Burrow's Lament would feel appropriately somber.

Well, it certainly feels tailored for Disneyland's faster-paced ride path. Much better in that regard. I just really disagree with the use of vocal tracks in the beginning of the ride - it's distracting and unnecessary.

Ok, having watched a stream that is higher resolution and didn't cut out, here are my thoughts.....at least until better cam videos come out and also when I ride it in a few weeks.

1. I didn't think they'd have room to put a kitchen in the queue, so kudos for that.
2. Louis is less "hidden" behind the okra, so it is easier to tell he's there.
3. The faster flume definitely makes the pacing better and there wasn't as many dead spaces like at WDW.
4. On the flip side of #3, I also think the faster pacing really showcases the lack of story a lot more too. Just my opinion.
5. I feel the first half of the indoor portion is better at DL, but the second half (laughing place) is better at WDW. After the "shrinking" drop there is a good portion of dead space before the tiny second drop. At WDW all of the frogs are playing in what feels more like a single room (like a band) and here if feels like you pass by each frog as if they are being showcased one by one....if that makes sense. Also, no jumping water fountains.
6. DL version seems darker, but could just be because all the live streams are coming from cell phones.
7. Before the shrink drop, they should have switched Tiana/Louis (the one we saw in the Imagineering video where she's sitting on the log) with the frogs on the log so that she is in front of the guests instead of off to the side.
8. Finale is exactly the same, so no comment.

Again, I'll probably ride this on hot day when I want to get wet, but still believe it is a major step down from Splash.

This was a comment I forgot above. Them building out the tunnel at Slippin' Falls before going into the show building was a good idea because it is already dark from the get-go as opposed to sunlight coming in at the entrance to the show building in WDW.

Where is there dead space that there wasn't on Splash?

I seem to remember that from the drop of the first lift to the first stop there was.. absolutely nothing on Splash. This is a huge improvement.

I agree with this. It's mostly better by virtue of mercifully ending sooner lol. The pacing helps cover for the dead space, but I found some of the staging less effective than in WDW's, which the faster pace makes it feel like you're flying by some of those set pieces

Also, anyone else notice Louis lost his trumpet?

Technically nothing is known until we actually see it like we did today. Early on in the process it was a fairly decent rumor and although on this site the consensus turned negative on it over the months, people on twitter and on other sites still seemed pretty adamant on it. I personally wasn’t expecting it to be true but I guess I had a small glimmer that maybe we’d see a frog or a single Opossum somewhere as a nod not to Splash but to America Sings
