You're making false assumptions. We've been asked politely to keep politics out of this, but there is far more than a political course correction necessary to return the company to the "hearts of the American public" at large.

They also must restore creativity as a core competency of the company, in other words, stop putting out crap content, and also make the 'Disney Experiences' segment more accessible to those with less means. Buying a theme park ticket should be enough to have an excellent day at the park, much like it was in the time period you now invoke as the ideal time in P&R history, and before it started going downhill.

Of course, but it's also their end goal. Don't be naive about it, you asked what their aim is - power is the aim.

Cool! I agree with this! Thinking Peltz or Rasulo or Perlmutter, men obsessed with ROI and ruthless cost cutting, will do anything other then take the company in the exact opposite direction, is utterly nuts. Every single piece of evidence indicates they'll do the opposite of what you say you want.

Are Lagomasino and Froman going to stand up to Iger and say 'enough nickel and diming' if they're reelected? Hell, they've overseen the company during the worst nickel and diming in the company's history. At least when Rasulo was in the C Suite it was more subtle.

That said, I do not believe Rasulo or Peltz would work any wonders in that regard either. That's part of why my ideal outcome is Iger being sufficiently damaged that he needs to step aside.

It's at least based on things Peltz and the people he is bringing along with him have said and done.

All the suggestions we'll have greater investment in the parks coupled with more reasonable admission prices with Uncle Peltz on board is based on magical thinking.

I know there has been an effort to discredit Sonnenfeld in this thread (for obvious reasons), but this article contains a substantial amount of evidence in its analysis that might be useful for all those who think Peltz will have a positive effect on the Disney board. Indeed. It's part of the reason the obsession so many supposed Disney fans have developed in recent times with the stock price is completely counter to the things on which they say they want the company to concentrate.

They claimed to support Iger. That was shown to be a lie by their past vote. They made PR claims about how the parks need investment but their actual business proposals question large investments, institute a number of mechanisms to slow or stop them, and particularly take aim at the recent $60 billion dollar investment Iger announced. I am sure that you could find many, many more examples - Peltz is not revered for his honesty.

That they’re doing this is kind of evidence that they shouldn’t be trusted. Peltz already started a fight and then stopped because he said he was happy with the changes that were made.

Eisner was formed by a different, pre-80s business culture, one that was much more comfortable with spending, even to the point of wasteful flamboyance. Iger developed in a different environment, one is which money saved via cuts was much more valued then that earned via investment.

Books exist.

You will never get another Eisner. You need to stop fantasizing.
