Light bars on Dinosaur's Time Rovers.

While riding Dinosaur today I saw this addition to the time rover vehicles.

It looks like a pair of lights and speakers, however they seem to be non-functional, at least as far as I could observe seated on the back row and twisted around.

Any ideas?

I believe those are to detect guests trying to leave the Time Rovers during the ride. Which, if true, means this issue became so prevalent that they had to spend $ on this system.

I thought that these were infra-red light blasters for better ride monitoring visibility. Could be wrong though.

Infra red should show on a camera phone

It's been there for the past 2 years now. However, just recently I noticed far fewer vehicles with them.

Infrared is for temperatures. That is the LiDAR system that uses lasers on a different wavelength. They were installed during the last couple years. They are supposed to detect if you stand up.

It's not just for thermal imaging. Every dark ride uses infrared emitters so that the safety monitoring cameras can see the riders in the dark.

I wasn’t alive to ride it at its peak, but I wish I was! Still a great ride, but it has definitely been tamed down over the years!

There was no peak for this ride. The effects are some of the worst since original dark rides, which had charm.

You're right. Though it is still LiDAR in this case.
