Fate of Sci-Fi Cafe? Are we going to lose this too?

I am just really curious and read in someone else's blog that they heard this restaurant was going once SWL was near completion. Does anyone have any legit news on this?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
No no legit news of this yet just all rumors. I am visiting in December just in case though. We usually go every other trip but will go for sure every trip if we can before that could maybe happen. We enjoy it! Same with Mama Melrose. 50's , and Hollywood Brown Derby. Some of those have been rumored too at some point to go away. So you just never know but will enjoy them for now. ;)

I sure hope not! Sci Fi is my absolute most favorite restaurant! Aside from this, it's consistently booked. I would be very surprised to see them let something so special and unique go. (Wishful thinking...)

We went there last month and it was bad.

Service was at a snails pace and when it finally arrived it was stone cold

Nope, its got a permanent hold on its spot. Its unique enough to stand out and draw guests in consistently. Weve never gone in and found empty seats. Our service and food has always been what weve expected. My only gripe is that they should replace the film occasionally. Its been the same presentation ever since we began dining there many years ago. Theres enough classic sci-fi movies and cartoons from the early years to draw from.

I love the film and hope they don’t replace if, through it would be great if they had a rotation of two or three films so that repeat diners might see something different.

I wouldn’t go expecting great food; it’s all about the superlative theming. And if the service is slow, that’s all the better—you want to linger and take it all in!
I'm expecting a decent burger and shake. The kids had options that looked good enough. If I wanted 4 or 5 * dining it probably wouldn't be at WDW and if it was it would be at one of the adult oriented places that have a fancy menu and charge for it.

I'm guessing 90 min between getting seated, ordering and eating and back outside. Sound right? 11:45 AM lunch res for 5...on a Monday in early Nov

In my experience (though I haven't been since February 2020), the food is perfectly decent, and you'll be done within an hour.

I'm guessing they don't replace the clips so that table turnover remains high. Lingering to see what's new and/or to watch the new stuff again might be bad for business.
