Even Someday isn’t exclusive to Harmonious?!?!?!?!😡

I guess they can’t even write music any more? I just found out someday the only part of the show I really like is also an IP song. Not a bad IP song to use and very exceptional for Epcot but to me but the creativity put into this show in my opinion just gets more lazier the more I get to know it.

Someday/the finale sequence is the only part of Harmonious that I felt delivered anything close to the ethos of IllumiNations.
if they put in a new show and ended it with Someday I wouldn’t be disappointed. But common they couldn’t write a song exclusive to the show? There slipping real bad

I don't think original music is the be-all, end-all signifier of a quality show. After all, Disney Enchantment exists and its original song sucks.

Someday is a B-cut from a lesser-beloved Disney film, one that I doubt even a simple majority of people will recognize (though Hunchback really does deserve more love). You yourself didn't recognize it as a Disney song until you found out - I think that speaks volumes as to how successful it is in fulfilling its role as a finale song in Harmonious (and it's perhaps the only thing I'll give to Harmonious as a success).

He gets upset about this and yet Fountain of Nations played IP Music of The Rocketeer and Rescuers Down Under..
Wait a minute, I still like it, a little IP here and there never killed anyone, IP has been in Epcot since the early 90’s, I wanted a Pirates of the Caribbean movie main theme fountain show. When have you seen me express hatred for Grand Fiesta? When I go into the seas it still feels like the same place it was back in 1994. But Magic Kingdom has songs exclusive to their nighttime shows. I don’t even like how much IP music in in paint the nights intro. Starting with frozen there just going plain old overkill now. It’s Epcot and every song Is is from a Disney movie. Even Surprise in the Sky had some IP.

Was just a tad confusing given you gave a "😡" in the thread title 😉 Pirates fountain show would be awesome, btw!

I should have put that a bit better, for the love of god since the 90’s nighttime shows and attractions would get their own themes, they can’t even do that any more.

Idk about you but all I ask of a finale at EPCOT is for a beautiful message to be spread, a grand pyro display, and an emotional connection to humanity. Harmonious's finale checks all three of those boxes for me.

I don't care if IP is involved in the finale, it's not like it's front and center. The fact that you had to find out through the internet where the song is from shows this. More attention is put on the lyrics, the display of our home on the screens, and the lights on Spaceship Earth than the Hunchback IP.

You complain about IP and then call for a Pirates of the Caribbean show in EPCOT. I'm the last guy to really complain about IP, shoot Im one of the only people I know that actually enjoys the direction EPCOT is going in. But I'm willing to admit that an PotC show is strange for EPCOT.

I’m not here to argue and attack or be attacked, for the love of god this is a Disney Forum.

People go to Disney parks to be surrounded by Disney IP, I don't know why this argument is still a thing.

If you don't want Disney IP then go to Six Flags, and even then they have Looney Tunes and Batman running around. Every big park has IP, that's the draw.

The days of original theme park content is long gone.

You got a point, even Disneyland and Magic Kingdom had nowhere near half the IP they had now, many characters were created in the parks alone.

An original song for a nighttime show is probably at the bottom of my list for enjoyment.

If it fits, you must acquit! My enjoyment is solely based on how a song fits the emotion of the moment, it’s originality in presentation and the overall presentation itself. With my criteria applied, I personally enjoyed Harmonious much more than Illuminations!

IMHO

Interesting--you're probably the first (maybe that I can recall offhand) that actually admits to likely Harmonious. I have a fellow Disney nut mom and she was wanting me to check it out on YouTube so we could chat about it (she likes it) but I don't want to see it until I can see it in person. I want to have the emotional response of actually being in the park, hearing the music, seeing the effects, etc before I form an opinion. Hopefully it will be as enjoyable as you've mentioned 😊

If you like Spectro, Reflections of Earth, Wishes and all those emotional show endings I can promise you that this endings going to give you the chills. You can tell they really put most of their hardest worn into the intro and ending despite the fact Disney is incapable of writing and composing new music any more. But after seeing enchantment I’m at peace with the fact that it’s for the best.

You see for me Epcot was always a venue for me to see outside talent other than what Disney IP has to offer. Its not the IP that bothers me, it’s the fact that they push out what many of us enjoy the most to put in an IP attraction. Ratatouie, no issues with that, they expanded for that one and there’s no issue with that. Epcots an Expo, they had Disney IP at the Worlds fair. Some people loose sleep over the fact that there’s a character meet and greet shoved out of sight. Epcot is loosing its unique features many of us love. Honestly I believe Harmonious would have had better success performed and better received as a fountain, light and imagery show performed before and after the main nighttime show. Not saying it has to be Reflections of Earth but they need to make a common ground between Expo and Disney. Epcot didn’t build its success thru harmonious it did thru being unique and diferent from any other man made feature in the entire world. As for me I’m in the middle, Epcot to be would be perfect if it were a cross between its Epcot 94 and Millennium celebration form.
