A better comparison would be Gringotts which is only 2000ft and one thing I consider a downside of gringotts is it's so short lived, so for me Cosmic Rewind being 6000ft or more is a metric I would consider a good thing not something to be ignored

Exactly. This one won’t be going 57 mph like RnRC, either. This looks to be a long coaster.

I was just reminded that this “other-world showcase” pavilion is dedicated to a civilization that was, canonically, violently destroyed and it’s population massacred. Sort of like if SWL had been based on Alderaan. Seems like some wires got crossed between the studios and the parks.

Well Xandar is never shown after 2014… We hear that it was “decimated” by Thanos but don’t know the extent of the damage, and the population presumably came back in 2023. So I imagine they pick themselves back up. It’s probably not at all like Alderaan.

Nevermind the fact that the theme park stuff isn’t bound to MCU canon. Specifically there was no snap. So presumably Xander is completely fine.

Pretty sure Disney said somewhere the MCU and the Marvel theme park rides don’t take place in the same timeline. Not a Galaxy’s Edge type situation.

Yes, but he didn’t snap Xander. They had the power stone and an elite military force, so there was a devastating battle, and then he slaughtered half the population the old fashioned way, as he was doing before getting all the stones - think of Gamora’s world. So presumably, there was no post-snap undoing.

And Disney can say the theme park stuff takes place outside of canon, and thus technically it does, but they’re sort of having their cake and eating it too - they went out of their way to bring Batuu into canon in Solo, and Cosmic is directed by the director of every Guardians movie with the full film cast. It’s canon in all but the most technical sense.

This isn’t a criticism, by the way, just a conversation. It probably would have been more visually interesting and narratively simple to theme the ride to Knowwhere - then we could get Cosmo the space dog, who is on the Skyway gondola anyway.

Interesting. Gringotts has actual show scenes where they stop and watch though and I don't think Cosmic will have that or will they or are you just talking about the coaster part and the rotating vehicles? I feel like it's all effects where you can still see it while speeding through and not necessarily have to stop.

There is a lot of unknowns but it's likely at least one show scene occurs before the lunch tunnel, the projection "dome"/helix. Are they stop and talk scenes, throughout exactly like gringotts? Maybe .. maybe not, I guess the point is the trains are directive to get you to look at particular places. I would guess that some parts are more than fly through like Aerosmith but less than full scenes like gringotts.

I believe it was confirmed (or at least mentioned by insiders) that there will be no Gringott’s-like full stops, but there will be some slowdowns for scenes.
