Fantasyland's 'Enchanted Grove' to be renamed 'Cheshire Cafe'

The menu looks pretty much the same (I meant to take a picture -- I'll be back tomorrow and will get one then) Frozen lenonade and raspberry lemonade, cereal, muffins, coffee, cappuccino (both hot or iced) and hot tea and cocoa, bottled water and lemonade, milk and orange juice -- but I noticed they also had strawberry fruit punch (at least I think that is what it was) sold by the cup from a fountain drink mixer machine (oh, I am describing that horribly!) I thought it looked new, but I could be wrong.

Does it change depending on the time of day?

No, I don't think so. For food there is cereal with milk, Muffins (usually just blueberry) and assorted fresh fruit and then a variety of beverages --almost everything except soda. The big draw here is usually the frozen lemonade and the frozen raspberry lemonade -- both are too tart (and cold!) for me! :)

I believe the change Fairfax Faire on Sunset Boulevard based on the time of day but I'm not sure.

Sounds great. My dream vision for this area is to have the Speedway torn out and the whole northern portion dedicated to a Wonderland mini-land. The southern portion of the Speedway would house a new Tomorrowland attraction, and the border between the two lands would finally be made more aesthetically coherent.

OK, so this is probably not where they're going with this Cheshire Cafe overlay, but a fellow can hope, right?

Or they could update the speedway to be themed for the land it is currently in, you know, tomorrowland. Or atleast get some ev in there.

I'm no fan of the Speedway. Never have been. Never will be. And while I get that kids still like to drive their own miniature cars, I think that's something that can be better integrated into EPCOT as a second Test Track attraction or the Studios in Pixar Place with a Cars theme. Not just because driving cars doesn't fit thematically into a Tomorrowland, but also because the attraction sits on such a large piece of land with so much potential.

I also think the Speedway is part of the problem with the Fantasyland/Tomorrowland transition. Right now, the northeastern spoke of the hub tries to be an entry into both lands, whereas every other spoke devotes itself thematically to just one. And I'd venture to guess that it's because the Speedway reaches as far north as it does (remembering, of course, that before Mickey's Birthdayland, it wended its way even farther north).

If the Speedway were removed and just the northernmost sliver of the land it currently sits on were turned over to Fantasyland (whether as a mini-Wonderland, a Storybook Circus expansion, or some other solution), that northeastern spoke could finally be dedicated to just Fantasyland instead of the half-and-half solution that's in place right now. I just don't see a reason that you should be looking at Tomorrowland architecture while enjoying a cup of coffee at the Cheshire Cafe.

I hope they allow the ivy to regrow... the more live vegetation, the more authentic a theme park feels (big, old trees in particular).

I also really like this Wonderland-mini-land armchair idea that's been floated... Convert Tomorrowland Terrace to Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall (as in Tokyo) in order to make that bridge a 1-land entry (to the above poster's point). Then, as mentioned earlier, put in a maze and new-LPS darkride over northern half of Autopia, using the southern half for a new Tomorrowland area.

I had the same thought that they should integrate the restaurant into Fantasyland. The clash of themes in that area has always been a problem. It just does not work well. Weakest transition in the Magic Kingdom.

I just saw the rather uninspiring menu for Cheshire Cafe, and it made me wonder... why doesn't WDW have more Disney-themed food items, particularly snacks, on their menus? I mean, you're unlikely to hit upon the next butterbeer unless you have a product that's both widely recognizable and also pretty tasty, but I would think that they'd at least be able to sell more of any given item if it had some tie to a Disney movie or character.

Why not, for example, call the strawberry punch that's sold at Cheshire Cafe "Wonderland Potion" or something similar? (Maybe put "strawberry punch" in a smaller font so people will know what it actually is.) Or maybe offer a selection of "Mad Tea Party Cookies" -- otherwise plain cookies with a Disney-related name and AiW shapes.

I know these aren't the best examples, but surely there must be many opportunities to "theme" food items to various Disney properties. Just speaking for myself, I'd definitely be more likely to try a given food item if it had an intriguing name, even if the item was otherwise indistinguishable in taste from an identical offering with a merely descriptive name. (I'm thinking now of the Fantasia ice cream that I used to love at DL -- I probably would never have tried it if the menu had merely called it "cherry, banana, and pistachio ice cream.")

I really think Disney is passing up a good opportunity here...

Good call. I think the opportunity here is ripe for some cookies iced with "Eat Me" and cups labeled "Drink Me," at the very least.

That spoke will always be that way unless they revamp part of cosmic ray's to match a FL facade. If the view from the Cheshire Cafe is concerned, guests will see cosmic rays more than the speedway.

The speedway is on a large amount of land, but why not look at an attraction that is based on personal transportation in the future. Or why not an attraction based on racing in the future? That land should stay as part of TL, god knows FL doesn't need to be any larger, and will a specific theme so we don't get another clone.

Wow...that's cool. any idea what your Original "E" Ticket attraction would be?

A mildly-thrilling dark ride on the scale of Indiana Jones Adventure or PotC. Ride system could be EMV-like, employ the Kuka arm or something entirely new. Since so much of Tomorrowland involves rocket ships/space travel, this would avoid that and focus on other sci-fi elements appropriate to the Buck Rogers-like tropes of this Tomorrowland (e.g., an infinite power source, a doomsday weapon, a wicked alien villain, a heroic rogue, an ancient seeder-species... maybe all of the above!). And like Indy, the actual events that take place during the ride would be variable and form a somewhat loose experience rather than tightly plotted one (Dinosaur), to enhance repeatability.

When I drew the exterior I imagined a mysterious, otherworldly temple-like structure (with a giant swirling sphere of what appears to be molten rock) with a futuristic excavation base built into it (all situated among unusual rock formations).

I illustrated the Wonderland sub-land concept we've been discussing here:

This is beyond amazing! I love both the ideas and the execution
it makes me a bit depressed though.. considering they have all the resources needed to make it come true, but they'll just never make it cause it would cost more than they're willing to pay :(
