If you visited The World as a child, what is your first memory? Me, I was not able to visit as a child and didnt get go until I was 19.:( That trip was with my Mother (now deceased) in 1989 . I remember crying walking down Main Street and telling my Mom, "We finally made it!":D I also remember having to talk her into riding Space Mountain with me. She was scared at first, but then asked to ride it again.

So, please share your childhood Disney memories with the rest of us.

My most vivid Disney memory was during my first trip in 1982 and I was 9 yrs old. I remember being awestruck with being in Epcot at night. It seemed so unreal to me because it had just stopped raining. ( I knew that at home, it was snowy and freezing out because went during Feb school vaca). It was really humid (good humid), there were people dashing around in every direction. The reflection of all of the lights and action happening around me, shining up from the wet ground was surreal!

As a child, It's A Small World was my favorite. I liked to sing, and it was an easy one to remember.:D I rode it 3 times. I was scared to death of HM (stretching room) and Pirates (cannons)! I also loved the Tiki birds and of course that song!:) Back in 1971, Snow White really was VERY scary! Also a bit scared of the gun shot on the Jungle Cruise ( I was 2 and a wimp- LOL):)

My very first Disney memory. Hmm, that's a hard one. My first visit was when I was 7 and honestly one of the most vivid memories I have is actually of the car ride (only time we ever drove) down. My brother (5) was chewing a stick of gum. My parents decided to have us stop for an hour (were driving from Iowa so it was a long drive) to burn off some energy and my dear brother took out his gum and plopped it on the seat, right in the sun. He proceeded to tell no one he did this... My mom didn't see the gum and placed him back in his seat and again, he told no one... Next time we stopped, well, when you super heat gum it gets a little bit runny, haha. It was all over his seat his pants his shirt (he'd squirmed around a lot) and his blanket. Mom had to just throw away his outfit, cut a hole in his blanket, and we had to stop in a grocery store to get some scrub to help remove the gum off the seat. And you wonder why we flew the next time? ;)

Actual at Disney memory, the one that stands out the most from that first trip is on the last night, we road Pirates probably 10-15 times in a row. It was baby brother's (3) favorite ride so it was a "treat" for him to see the pirates. My parents bought him a little toy gun and sword and he was in heaven. I just remember being so happy to see that he was so happy. And it also started a tradition of making Pirates our last ride on each trip we go to Disney and we always see how many times we can ride it before closing. :)

I remember watching the Electrical Water Pageant from our room at the Contemporary. We only stayed in the main building once, the rest of the times we stayed in the Garden Wing, so I guess I was about 3 - almost 4? I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen - the lights dancing on the water. When my kids saw it for the first time and I saw that same amazement in their eyes - it was truly magical.

Honestly I remember my first plane ride, we hit turbulence and I held onto my grandpa's hand like it was the end of my life. My grandpa was the best.

My first memory was of the Polynesian. When we first started going to WDW, it was only the MK and it wasn't as built up as it is today so there was plenty of time to spend at the resort. "Back in the day", you could swim in the lake and the main pool (like AoA) played music underwater. I remember my dad would sit in the pool with his head underwater as long as he could listening to the music. Great memories of that resort and my family.

My first WDW memory was a "child-at-heart" one (I was 21 y.o. during my very first visit): walking out from the shadows of the Main Street Train Station tunnel into the sun-laden Town Square, and hearing that feel-good-piano music & smelling freshly popped-popcorn! It was like being wrapped in a "just-out-of-the-dryer fuzzy blanket," mixed with the anticipation of opening presents on Christmas morning feeling! (I had been waiting since elementary school to go to WDW...)

AND then when I saw Cinderella's Castle, forget about it: my eyes welled up a bit, and as I squeezed my boyfriends' hand (now DH), I whispered "thank you."

Since then, I have been there for my two DD's, my oldest and youngest sister's, and my mom's "first" WDW memory!

But if I had to describe my very favorite Disney-related childhood memory, it would be watching the Sunday night Disney movie with Michael Eisner providing the introduction. Those were the days!

The first time I ever rode Splash Mountain.

"Summer, look at all of the happy people in those boats. Do you want to go on it with Daddy?"

The funny thing was, he didn't even realize the logs riding pass the bridge we saw them from were the same ones falling into the Briar Patch. He legitimately didn't notice. I'm glad this happened, though, because I've been riding Splash Mountain ever since!

My first memory was at the Artist Point Restaurant in the Wilderness Lodge. For breakfast they used to have the characters of Goofy, Chip, and Dale come around to the tables. And being around 3 years old at the time, I brought some race cars with me to breakfast. When all three characters came over to our table at once, they took me by the hand, sat down on the floor, and started to play with me and my racecars. The characters and I all started tossing the cars back and forth across the floor. It was awesome! And being a little kid playing with my racecars with characters like Goofy, Chip and Dale in the middle of the restaurant was such a great experience. I was in awe! And my family was also in shock that actually happened, but they got some great pictures out of it nonetheless!

My first memory was the monorail. My parents never stayed onsite, but that first monorail ride to MK still stands out. It was 1985 and even the line for that seemed long, but then we saw our first monorail pull up and I was like WOW! I was 11 so it wasn't the kind of WOW my 6 yr old brother was experiencing, but it was cool. Like so many, that trip through the Contemporary really made an impression. My parents were kind of upset that we wanted to get back on the monorail and ride again! :D

First time @ Disney I was 10 and my sister was 6. We did SM as a family and walking away from the ride I noticed that my sister was white as a ghost. I had a big laugh....mom & dad did not think that it was so amusing! :)

An earliest memory is going to Epcot on the monorail before it was open and getting out at the station to look at SSE. I'm already celebrating 30 years at Epcot!

I don't think I remember any late '70s moments, just what I see in pictures. Maybe the grape shaped juice container.

My first trip was when I was 2 1/2 but I don't remember anything from that. I do however remember my next trip when I was 4. I was there with my parents, little sister, grandparents, aunt and cousins, and a family friend. I remember having to eat lunch before we went on any rides and I was so upset. My grandpa called me over to sit on his lap and he pointed up at the sky and said look @ that, do you know who that is? It was Timothy the mouse spinnin around, since Dumbo was my favorite movie that just made my day and it was the first ride we went on.

My first clear memory was being in line for Thunder Mountain with my dad as a kid and being scared half to death. A decade later I'll do the craziest coasters in the world without thinking twice.
