"Your Day at Universal"

OK, I'm 26, and my brother is 23. My parents divorced when I was 20. Needless to say, we still have many fond Orlando and Anaheim memories and videos. So we were reminiscing last night, my mom, brother, and his girlfriend, watching Disney videos. At the hotel pool, parks, etc. And we came across an old one, which I fondly remember making, called "Your Day at Universal". We made it at Universal Studios. It was basically us doing stuff in front of a blue screen, like pointing, cringing, running, laughing, etc., what we were directed to do, and they added in the background, so it was like a Universal Studios movie with us as the stars. It was so cute. :)

Anyway, did anyone else do that? I am wondering if they still have it at either Universal park or if they have something comparable at WDW? We want to do that.

The only one I remember from Universal was a Star Treck one and it's no longer there. Disney used to have a show called Superstar TV or something like that in MGM where you would play the role of characters from tv shows like Tool Time, but it's gone as well. The only thing really like that anymore is if you get picked to be a volunteer in the backlot tour although they don't give you an option to purchase a DVD of it which sucks. You take on the role of either captain, deck crew, or someone on a telephone while effects go off around you and you follow the cues of a director. They then put that in over a scene from Pearl Harbor and show it to the audience. I got to do it last time and was annoyed to find that there was no way for me to actually see the video of me in the show.

The Imageworks at Imagination used to have something similiar with Figment. I remember seeing kids running in front of a green screen while a monitor showed them on a spaceship. I don't know if you could purchase a video of it or not though.

I never did it, but I remember Universal's blue screen videos you could purchase. They originally offered both the Day at Universal one and the Star Trek one. They made them in a small shop space right next to King Kong. Later they turned the space into the Islands of Adventure preview center. I lost track of it after that.

The Imageworks one was Dreamfinder's School of Drama I think. I recall it also being called the Chroma Key Theater on one of the early promotional videos for Epcot. As far as I know they never sold the video for this one.

I don't think Disney's ever done anything like Universal's old blue screen souvenier video. The closest thing I can think of are the green screen photos they take and insert characters and backdrops with you. They do this at an outdoor shop at MGM near the LMX stunt show.
