okay, heres the dilema.

im trying to price a disney vacation. im a aaa member and im thinking about going a la carte to put the vacatoin together. what does everyone suggest. right now im doing the fall fling and im going through aaa for the tix. We want to go to pleasure island one night and not to any of the water parks. what would everyone do? im thinking about getting a 4 day pass because well be there for 5 days, but well be leaving out for the airport early on the 5th day and we could always go to downtown disney for that day and do some shopping. the main reason we're going down though is because i want to propose to her at the magic kingdom (she doesnt know that....as a matter of fact, she doesnt know about the trip! :) ) Im not really sure if i should get a moderate or a value hotel because of the fact that were fresh out of college and have very little cash. Please advise! :) HELLLLLLLP!!

Stay at a value resort if you are short on cash. They are very nice, and you will most likely be at the parks, so why pay for more resort than you need. Try the All-Star Music, which typically has less kids and less people in general. Also, you can ask to stay in one of the Jazz or Country buildings. They are in the back, and have a very quiet pool back there. Hardly any people there usually. Then, use the money you save to eat at all the really nice, sit down, full service restaurants there are in the parks and the resorts. Why pay more for a moderate, only to be too broke to eat anything other than fast food. Buy a guidebook and read all the restaurant reviews. Then call and book some PSings. Also, if you save the money and stay at a value resort, you will have more $$ for souveniers!!!!Good luck and have fun!!!!!!!!

Hi! If all you are interested in is the four day hopper then certainly buy your pass at AAA. It will save a few dollars and every dollar counts. But it sounds like you want to do one night at pleasure island and your four day hopper won't do much good. It seems that if you buy an extended pass with flex features it will save you some money in the long run and you will have some days left for your next trip...

but you can only go to PI once. If you plan on going more than once maybe you are better off getting the ultimate hopper when you check-in.

as for the resorts, if you can swing it definetly do a moderate, it would be a little more romantic. I am staying at the port orleans riverside in september and hear it is very romantic. But if you can't the allstars is still a very nice property, stay at music if you can. Good luck with the proposal, im sure it will be magical!!!:)

Here's another thought -- do you know what day you're going to propose? If you propose on the first or last day of the trip, you could book a deluxe resort for one night, then a value for the others. This way, you can be really romantic on the special night, but not destroy your bank account in the process. We actually did this when we got engaged -- we spent two nights at the Yacht Club, then switched to Dixie Landings to save money. We'd have stayed in a value, but my husband was a CM and we could get half price at the moderate, but not at the value, which actually made the Dixie cheaper than the All-Stars.

Disney makes it VERY easy to change resorts if you don't have a rental car, as well -- they'll move your luggage for you and all you have to do is check-out of one resort in the morning, go do whatever you had planned for the day, then go to the new resort and check-in when you're done with your days events. Call the bell stand to get your luggage sent to the room (at the value resort, you may have to pick up your luggage at the Bell Stand instead -- I'm not sure how luggage delivery works there).

Info

I would go through AAA...that's who we always go through, it's much more convienient.

Also, I would recommend Animal Kingdom Lodge, I know it's deluxe, but in my opinion, it's the best hotel at WDW. But, the Port Orleans - Riverside is my favorite moderate resort.

I would not suggest and of the Value Resorts, except Pop Century, based on it's looks.

Hope this helps! :)

BTW...Disney does have Proposal Packages...

carribean beach is the best for those with short money supply, and it is still really really nice.

and good luck with the proposal thing! If my fiance didn't propose to me at the white sox game, I was going to make him do it in disney. ;)

Since you are just out of college and money is an issue, I would suggest staying at one of the budget resorts this trip, proposing at Disney, than plan a honeymoon at one of the other resorts. She will remember the proposal more than the room, anyway, so save a few bucks this trip to spend on the next one.

I agree with David and 2much2do. The all stars are not as bad as some would have them made out to be. My husband did this trip at All Star Music...it was nice, we too went on the Fall Festival deal...you can always upgrade on the Honeymoon..careful though we did that and came home with a "little souvineer" LOL~ Maybe do a special dinner in a romantic spot...how about doing the Glass Slipper deal inside the castle at the dinner??? have you seen that comercial...makes me cry everytime! Good luck either way..I know it will be a magical experience with lots of memories.

Stay at a moderate!
It's not that much more money and well worth it the extra couple of bucks. I think that there is a big difference between the moderate and value resorts. I was in your same situation in the summer of 2000. Broke, and still in school. I stayed at Coronado and loved it. There were not tons of little kids running around (not that I have any problem with kids), but it just seemed like a resort fit for people more our age. The resort is very quiet and at night it looks beautiful, there are cool hommocks that you can lay on and just relax with your new fiance. I would reccomed there or the Carribean, both are really cool and well worth it!
TRUST ME!! I am very smart, some say a genius.

When are you going down? Disney is advertising special rates for select Moderate Resorts for $89 a night, 8-25-02 through 10-02-02. If you call to check on this rate with Disney, use code CLS.

That actually is a really good idea, i never thought of that! im planning on proposing on the first night there so it would be perfect, especially if they will send the luggage to another resort. What is the "plus" option again? Does that include the one night at p.i.? would it be cheaper to get that or to pay the$34 for two people using the AAA membership for PI

thanx for all the great ideas guys!:sohappy:

Take this advice, because many people I know have done it, including me! www.mousesavers.com Go there and SEE what you can save! We stayed in a Delux resort *Wilderness Lodge* for $140 a night. ANd we stayed in Port Orleans for $120 a night. It's unbelievable what you can save from looking at that site. If you have FAQs about the whole thing, there is an FAQ section. Its real, 100%. AAA is good, but this is better! really! Just try it.

It all depends on when you are going - the Disney Club has some great prices if you are going Aug 25-Oct 25. I would stay at a Moderate hotel - I think Port Orleans Riverside is the best because you can get a great room and there always seems to be less children around. The All Stars are swarming with kids so it may not be too romantic. PO Riverside has a ton of cute walking paths and the pools are themed really nice. If you do try requesting a room in the Magnolia Plantation facing the water. Downtown Disney isn't really a full day so a Length of Stay Pass would let you bask under the fireworks anywhere in the world at night.
Good Luck!

I would definetly check in with the Disney Club before booking. Depending on the resort you choose you can save a bunch. Plus with the Disney club you can save money elsewhere in the parks and DDD. www.mousesavers.com has alot of good info on how to save as jaimjaim25 noted.

Have a great time!
