I have always gotten park hopper tickets but I'm on a budget for my next trip so this time we are getting base tickets. If I have lets say a 6 day ticket, and I go 2 days at MK and 2 days at Epcot, then want to split up a day between Animal Kingdom and MGM, is it possible to use 2 tickets that day instead of getting a park hopper ticket? Or can you only use one ticket per day?

Unfortunately, I dont think you can. I wondered this when booking my holiday and researched it and it it seems the magic your way tickets do not allow for this, hence why they charge for hoppers. I was sorely disappointed in this but thats how they get you to pay more. We just ended up paying an extra $10 each which i thought was worth it. I didnt buy through disney though. More expensive.

How was it an extra $10 each? I'm not buying tickets through Disney either. I'm using an employee benefits program and its still quite a bit extra for a park hopper.

Yes you can use 2 tickets in one day if you choose too. It will automatically use that last ticket once you enter the second park in the same day. :)

Oh ok I see what you mean. I get a 4 day ticket plus 1 free for $298 with my employee program. A 3 day park hopper plus 2 days free is $340. I know in the grand scheme of things considering how much Ive already put towards the room, the difference in price really isn't much, but Its still a savings. We are staying 6 nights which is 2 less than usual cause we aren't using DVC points this trip. 2 days at MK and 2 at Epcot is a priority for us whenever we go and I wont mind cutting out animal kingdom, even tho I like it more than MGM. This next trip MGM is more important we use that 5th free day for because of star wars weekends since I've been a huge star wars nerd since forever.

Ok then I might do that. This is my first time planning a trip. Before it was my parents so I didn't really have much involvement other than choosing what days to go to parks and what restaurant I want to eat at, so I'm getting myself all confused in the planning process. If I get a 6 day base Ill still be within my budget.

I'm sorry, but this is entirely incorrect. You can *not* use a second "day" to enter a second park instead of having Park Hopping.

A 6-day MYW ticket gives you admission to the theme parks for 6 *calendar* days. It is not simply 6 "admissions" that you can use at any time you want.

Bottom line: If you want to go to more than one theme park on the same day, you *must* get the Park Hopper option. There is no way around it, unless you buy a totally separate ticket, which at $100 is not cost-effective.

You'll want to ignore the post you quoted, which is very wrong, and read my response above.

Oh haha you get it cheaper than me!!! Lucky you!

It seems someone thinks that you can park hop with base tickets, I had an experience at Epcot when someone in front of me got denied entrance because the turnstiles already showed they had been to animal kingdom that morning.. so the CM said they cant do that. She wasnt happy :/

Haha ok. Its good Im asking questions so I don't screw myself over. And if anyone is wondering why I don't just go ahead get a 6 day ticket since we are there 6 nights, 7 days, it cause we like to take a day or 2 to enjoy the hotel, use the pool, and go to downtown Disney.

Unless something has changed we did not have the park hopper one time years ago and we did do that. We went to Animal Kingdom them MK on our last day. I know for certain I did not have the park hopper. We had 2 days left and those were used up after that day.
We now ALWAYS get the park hopper but for one of our trips we did not get it to save money. Saved like
$200 or so bucks not adding park hopper.
Sorry I was going by my personal experience and do not know if this changed from years back since we now get the park hopper every trip and have since 2008. :)

Totally understand the wanting a few days round the pool, Im having a full day round the pool when I get to BCV before I even hit the parks, stormalong bay cannot be missed.

Sorry Rob I meant to reply directly to your post it is below. This was before 2008 so i very well could have been wrong. Do not know why I was able to do that and get into those 2 parks in one day. I did not have any special event ticket or water park added either. We got a sole base ticket. Maybe we were lucky or it was some fluke but we did it that one trip without a park hopper. We had a 7 day base ticket and we only went in the parks 6 days and tried on the 7th just to make sure we used all days due to what happened the day before , and sure enough we had used all 7 days. If we had had the park hopper unknowingly then on day 7 we would have been able to enter. :)

Stormalong bay is amazing! I just wish I could persuade my parents to use DVC points at the Beach Club again. We had a bad experience there. We got a room at the very end of the hallway which was very dark, and the fridge and stove were broken. Also, the balcony looked at the back of the buildings at Epcot at a service road. We were only there 3 nights otherwise we would have requested a new room. I really love the Beach Club.

Yes ignore my post you replied to! I was going by an old trip I took before 2008 and also could have been some fluke or "MAGIC"! Lol I usually am pretty good answering about Disney rules but not this time! Sorry! :)

Oh dear that isnt what you need. I'm hoping we dont get the same. I only there 2 nights because we have our cruise to go on but then we come back to WDW after cruise for another 10 days, just couldnt afford beach club villas again so used DVC points for OKW and then were paying for POR. Im coming from the UK so i better have an amazing room, dont want to be at the front desk complaining after 9 hours of flying.

We all make mistakes, Disney has sooo many different rules and regulations and parks and resorts and vistors. We all have had different experiences :) NO ONE can get Disney 100% right all the time.

If the trip in question was before mid-2005, then pretty much all tickets included Park Hopping ability. It wasn't until the introduction of Magic Your Way tickets sometime in 2005 that Park Hopper became a separate add-on.

I believe it was late 2006. So who knows what happened! Like I told the poster maybe it was "MAGIC"! Haha
If it had been a park hopper ticket i would have been able to get in the parks on 7th day of our 7 day ticket and we tried and it said all days were used! We did not just get 6 days we always get tickets for even on our departure day which was day 7. Weird! But at least now I know the correct info! Thanks Rob! :)
