Yacht or Beach?

Which would you choose and why? I booked Yacht Club, as I seem to like the exterior more, but I get the feeling that it looks like more of a convention resort, and I don't want that.

Won't be going to the Studios, but will be going to Epcot and the Boardwalk. I understand neither has a food court. If either has a store that sells snacks, beverages, that would be a plus.

Between the two, I strongly prefer the Beach Club.

1) Beach Club is literally the closest hotel to Epcot, and getting to the Boardwalk requires a slightly longer walk or a short boat ride.
2) The Beach Club Marketplace is a convenient store for snacks, beverages, and even souvenirs. Yacht Club has no equivalent.
3) I love the Beach Club's theme. I prefer the pale blue exterior, and the rooms feel lighter and more airy to me than the Yacht Club.

Whichever hotel you choose, you'll have a good time. But there are only two pluses I see for the Yacht Club: you prefer the exterior, and the hotel is closer to the Hollywood Studios walkway (which doesn't affect you). Here's a site that has good info and pics for both hotels:

EDIT: The Yacht and Beach Club do share a convention center, but it's closer to the Yacht Club side so it's possible that more conventioners choose to stay there. You can see on this map.

Just stayed at the Yacht club and we really enjoyed it. The resorts are very similar to one another and differ a little in theme. The Yacht club is more of a convention resort since it has the convention center attached. The Beach Club Marketplace has a VERY limited selection of items to choose from to eat. It is located in the beach club, but of course only a 5 minute walk from the Yacht. Hurricane Hannah's out at the pool is your other choice for quick service food.

We'd vote for Beach Club because:

1. It is a VERY short walk to EPCOT and that is where we like to spend our eves.

2. It has the Marketplace that has good snacks and the #1 underated snack - Gelato!

We would have to vote for Beach club also. Not only are we DVC members there, but its just our favorite place ot stay. I think the walks to Epcot and Boardwalk are not even worht mentioning, they are right next to each other and depending on where your room is one may end up being closer than the other anyways. Also with all the walking we do at the parks the little bit extra or less doesn't really come into play.

We are a family of 3 with a 2 1/2 year old daughter and the Beach just seems more family friendly. The yatch as the others said is more convention type kinda liek the Swan and Dolphin. We ate at the Yatchsman and it was excellent just not really somewhere for a 2 year old. They do share the pool although the waterslide is closer to the Beach. We like Cape may for at least 1 meal each visit.

So its kinda up to you, if you want a bit mor eof a fmaily feel I would do Beach if you ant a little bit more reserved and upperscale (feel) then Iwould choose Yatch. Either way you will be happy because you at Disney....

Sounds like the Beach Club would be the better option. However, I just got a look at the new rooms at the Beach Club and I don't like them at all. Much prefer the look of the Yacht Club's rooms.

Anyone know if those are getting a refurb as well?

Okay I chose Yacht Club foor a couple of reasons. First I've stayed at BC twice and woudl like to see something different, but I don't think you have stayed at either so that would not matter for you.

However some of my other reasons may matter. The YC seems to be a little quieter and more adult (I'm not anti-kids and I know this is WDW, this is just my opinion). I like the fact that they have a restaurant that is not a character breakfast. We actually wanted to be able to have breakfast at our hotel on a whim rather than making reservations months in advance.

I know not very strong reasons, but I think both the hotels are great and in a great location for getting to EC and to the other hotels if you want to eat somewhere else. I have also seen plenty of conventioneers in BC. I'm not sure why people at conventions seem to be of such great concern to people on the boards. Has anyone had any trouble with conventioneers at their hotel?

Good luck with you decision. You really cannot go wrong with either.

I prefer yacht club too, for the reasons you state. Conventioneers are the best because they don't fill up the restaurants and rarely use the hotel's facilities since they're at meetings all day and at night have group dinners.
