Yacht Club ' quicker service' in the works

I hadn't seen this reported, but in addition to their renovated rooms and common areas, and upcoming Captain's Grill refurb...their store Fittings & Fairings Clothes and Notions is only half open, with the other half getting remodeled into a quick service location ala Beach Club Marketplace (from their old Atlantic Ware and Wardrobe Emporium.) Expect grab n go, made to order, mug refill stations, and merchandise to coexist.

Great addition to a great Resort. Looking forward.

This will add a convenience to staying at Yacht Club that doesn't currently exist. I know some people complain about the lack of a quick service location and a need for a better way to fill mugs. I'm actually a little sad about it though. I enjoy the quieter vibe at Yacht Club. I go there specifically for it. I think this change will make the lobby at YC almost as chaotic as the lobby at BC. I was in Fittings & Fairings earlier this month. It's been reduced (temporarily) to a fraction of it's usual size and one of the entrances (closest to the elevator) is blocked. This was a beautiful shop with a wide range of items including clothing, luggage, jewelry, resort specific souvenirs, a nice assortment of wines, as well as snacks, cold beverages, etc.. Currently a lot of items have been removed. I hope that when it reopens these items will all return to the sales floor but I don't see how they'll have room for everything unless they pack it closer together. I see no way that Fittings & Fairings will ever be the uncrowded, pleasant place to browse around that it once was.

As much as I can agree with you @cupcake__ , I always felt the chaoticness of the BC is because of the character dining directly adjacent, and that Disney promotes BC as the family side and YC as quiet and adult oprientated. I don't see that changing.

Although I too, enjoyed many a morning walking my breakfast back to my room on the Yacht side and enjoying the quiet, almost secluded Resort.

You are right, @surfsupdon , Cape May is certainly a contributor to the activity in the Beach Club lobby, both at breakfast and at dinnertime. I guess my main reservation is that Fittings & Fairings will be exactly like The Marketplace at BC- crowded, hard to navigate, loud, and what is that smell?
(Not to be confused with the seafood smell from Cape May. The Marketplace always smells like something toxic is smoldering.)

Hahahaha YES!! The Beach side does always smell....questionable. I am hoping the Yacht side remodel isn't loud either. They did have illustrations up....it had a completely difffefent look and layout than the Marketplace.

Oh good! I'm glad to hear it will be different. I wish I'd noticed the illustrations when I was there this month.

Any updates on the Yacht Club room renovations or when the quick service location might be open? Thanks so much for the update.

I just stayed in the YC 3 weeks ago and stayed in an old room. I know there are a decent number of rooms that have been refurbed already that guests are staying in. I believe the 5 and 4th floors? I could be wrong though

5th floor is done. 4th floor is under refurb now. Sheetrock work is being done. The stairwells are open and they are doing a lot of sanding.

Another news note:

The front desk also has said the lobby bar will be updated and expanded during refurb the same time as when Captains Grille closes for rehab, and therefore Crews Cup will open at 5 and use Yachtsman's kitchen.
