Xmas at Disney and Santa

We recently moved to Alaska, are living in temporary housing, and all of our stuff is in a tractor trailer being stored until we get a house. Our realtor told us yesterday that it is unlikely we'll have a house before Xmas. So I started trying to think of a way to make the holiday magical without our decorations and, of course, my first thought was Disney trip. We have 2 kids, both 8. My question is how do you guys handle Santa's delivery if you travel over Xmas like this? Bringing gifts with us seems impractical. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

For Christmas/Santa, Easter/bunny visits when we’re at Disney, I have arranged for a family member or friend to set up everything at home while we were away so when we walk in…..Surprise! During the trip I have secretly packed small stockings with goodies or a gift bag from the bunny. They get something little/small treats when they wake on the holiday but the real stuff is waiting for them at home. Of course we talk about this so they aren’t left wondering. It also makes leaving Disney a little easier knowing they have something waiting for them at home.

You can ship packages to your resort. Shipping costs can add up. With the state of the postal service, ups, fed ex as well, mailing anything isn’t as timely or assured as it once was, so chancy your own packages will arrive when you want them. Dis started charging handling fees years ago when lots of guests were shipping to resorts more and more. There’s also the cost of shipping things back if you won’t be flying back with the gifts when you leave.
If you are going to ship to your resort look at Disneys site for directions on mailing.

I don't have kids, so maybe this is a dumb idea, but I would pack some stockings and a small gift for at the hotel. Then have a message from Santa saying to the effect that he knew that the kids were at Disney and wouldn't be able to bring large gifts back home with them in their suitcase so he just delivered the small stuff to Disney and the rest was waiting for them at home. Then you could have everything set up for them at home (or wherever you are staying before your home is ready) so when they walk back into the house it could be "Christmas morning". The Santa message could just be a note or if you know someone with a Santa suit they could video the message to you.

I know that Disney does have a tree you can buy through the floral department for your room. I have packed a small table top tree in my suitcase (and carryon) to use as decoration when I have gone over the holiday season.
