WSJ: WDW a favorite spot to scatter ashes

I KNOW that officially it's not allowed, but I think it's a great way to honor a Disney fan and a GREAT way to "visit" whenever you go to the world. I would imagine that there are probably thousands of people that over the years have their final resting place at Disney. I haven't made a final decision as to where I want to go, but then again, I won't be around to oversee it...that being said, since we're such HUGE Disney fans, I wouldn't complain about it...no tombstones, ALWAYS well landscaped, and the family won't have to be creeped out by visiting at the cemetery. You would think someone in corporate would come up with an plan for an "upcharge" to add a final resting place on property...there IS plenty of room...and I don't plan on being buried with a hatbox! LOL

I'll own up to it. Stupid as it is, when my cat (diabetic from an early age, went hypoglycemic several times while I was at WDW) died and was cremated, I scattered some of his ashes in Crescent Lake, so when I was visiting WDW, I'd also be visiting my little guy.

For the next few hours, you can read the article through the google search result for "Disney World’s Big Secret: It’s a Favorite Spot to Scatter Family Ashes" and see the free version.

Edited to add: I found it funny how many commenters on the article thought that it would be the most annoying places to be laid to rest. Classic comments about listening to the IASW song for the rest of eternity.

This is spooky--I was honestly wondering just the other night whether people scatter ashes at WDW. I guess I'm not surprised that they do.

no tombstones, ALWAYS well landscaped, and the family won't have to be creeped out by visiting at the cemetery.

Unless the family chooses the graveyard outside the Haunted Mansion . . .

Eh, it’s just ashes. Now this is a little creepy for my taste. Ashes being put in dirt in the flower beds I walk past doesn’t come close to having a fancy dinner at a convention or wedding reception in the exact site that cadavers were dissected.

Oooh it can get creepier. Much creepier.

Look up a recent news story shared by @Gitson Shiggles involving girl scout cookies, and you'll know what I mean. o_O

Thanks for that. I was hoping it wasn't along the lines of that old joke...
"If oatmeal raisin cookies contain oatmeal and raisins, what do Girl Scout cookies contain?"

A simple search with the word "cookies" and by "Gitson Shiggles" will bring that post up.
Or it may just bring you to his online store...

But it will also take you to the politics forum, which is a place so scary that it would frighten even the ghosts and ghouls of the Haunted Mansion
Holy cow, I didn't even know that existed. I went took a peek as I am pretty opinionated and have a politics degree from a pretty reputable institution lol but this is my happy fun time forum I say nay nay to that corner of the wdwmagic forums

Very sensible of you! Once you get sucked in, it’s very hard to extricate yourself (and I speak from bitter experience).
