Wouldn't it be Cool if...

So I know that Disney has their own music stars and stuff, which is fine and all, but wouldn't it be cool if they branched out? For example, they already teamed up with Square Enix to make the Kingdom Hearts game franchise which became a huge success.

Why not try to collaborate with other types of media? It wouldn't hurt them in any way seeing as they seem to have a rather brilliant way of knowing what will be successful and what won't. Take this as an example; the band Nightwish based a lot of the songs on their first three albums off of various Disney movies and stories - they even named a 9 minute song after Fantasmic and it basically references everything Disney. I know that Disney is not the biggest fan of metal, but they're symphonic metal, with female vocals, and until recently they very rarely used even minor scales, so they definitely fit the happy mood of the parks (and the keyboardist now sorta has a jack sparrow look).

Here is an example of one of their songs, "Fantasmic," set to a lot of clips from Disney movies, the part from around 3:15 to 5:00 will probably appeal to almost everyone on here seeing as it is the slow part of the song and easiest to get in to

Well I know they'll probably never get involved in a genre such as this, but still, it would be pretty cool and at least I think it'd be cool to get a whole album like this but about Disney stuff.

Plus, think how awesome it would be to have this performed live as a part of Fantasmic with the characters and all the special effects used for the show.

Wow I found an actual picture of a Disney Exec immediately after he read this thread! :ROFLOL:

Seriously, I would not hold you breath for Disney to get involved with integrating a metal band or integrating anything of the sort into the parks. I have to wonder though if you are just a big fan of the band trying to get their name out there...

nah, i know disney wouldn't get involved with anything like that.

however, i'm not trying to get their name out there seeing as they are the most popular band in their genre. so if i were to spread the word of any band it most definitely would not need to be them, they just happened to be an easy example to use. if i were to advertise a band it would be something like this:
so you can also check out leaves' eyes (who did play downtown disney), delain, unsun, sonata arctica, ... =P but why would i want to do that, it has nothing to do with disney at all, trust me, i'm not trying to spam this forum.

i just thought it would be interesting to see them venture into something new, because i know people who are not into metal that like the band because of their connection to disney. but you are right, after all, disney basically made it a point that there will no longer be any metal acts playing at any of the venues at downtown disney.

though, flyleaf did play at disney's night of joy, which is sorta surprising.

basically, i think it would be refreshing to see something other than the same type of music coming out of them in recent years (however, i am not against it because it is a huge money maker for them so i get why they're doing it).

Disney is a popular culture icon. It is in the very fibre of their being to be mainstream. So, it's not surprising that they use the popular music of any given time to appeal to a mass audience. I love indie music, which doesn't appeal to the masses, and, therefore, I would never expect Disney to use it. I wouldn't want Disney to use it either. Music like that inevitably loses something when it's brought into the mainstream.
