Would Motion have been a better theme for Spaceship Earth?

For its time communication was a great theme for the iconic geodesic sphere. Motion is something we can still dream about, explore and there are so many things we have yet to do. I feel that motion is not only timeless but we could have had a futureistic ending that could have lasted for years to come. I feel World of Motion could have stood the rest of time better than Spaceship Earth not only for a vision of the future but do to its quirky characteristics.

You have to take into account all of the design for both pavilions.

Motion, being circular and repetitive, with ride vehicles seen inside and out. Very dynamic.

Communications affecting all of humanity on planet Earth, thus the dome.

No, I don't think so. WoM was perfect where it was and of all the ones that everyone whines about, that to me is the best, and most upbeat dark ride in the place. Or at least one of the top three. I don't include Horizons in the top three and even Imagination had only one part that was mouth gaping good that the was the turn table part, otherwise as boring as the present ride. SSE fits the building it is in. SSE became my favorite after WoM was shut down.

Its a shame they didn’t keep World of Motion and put test track in another show building entering thru the world of Motion pavilion or right next to it. They should have made a whole section committed to motion maybe even turn Horizons into Test Track as much as I hate to say it

They had plenty of room to just make it an additional attraction, but, I think this was more Sponsor inspired. GM was sponsoring WoM and then wanted Test Track. It was a horrible loss though. Didn't I read that there were more Animatronics in that one pavilion then any other one. It was also a lot of fun and it was great to be free.

WoM was a great pavilion back in the day; one of the classics. I mourned its loss when Test Track took over, but management wanted to give people an E-ticket ride. One thing they both have in common though, is the lousy unload area. Dead space, if you ask me. Test Track went one further though and added one to the beginning as well.

It was a balance between education with a real wacky whimsy setting to it, that’s one ride that could have went timeless and almost untouched and still be good. I hope someone brings a little worlds fair feel backto Epcot and throws in the right attractions.
