Would a Doctor Who attraction be popular in the Studios?

Firstly I have never heard of any ideas of a Doctor Who attraction being built at Disney, it's just something I thought about before we have 100 pages of arguments .

Coming from the UK, Doctor Who has been something I remember from being a small child over 40 years ago. One thing I've noticed in America in recent years however is that Doctor Who seems quite popular there now too. I saw quite a few Tardis tee shirts last year and my wife was asked about the latest tv series by two different people when they spotted her Doctor Who purse.

But out of curiosity does anyone think that it would ever be popular enough to have it's own attraction (again I've heard nothing about this happening)? A dark ride featuring the various Doctors with the tardis appearing or disappearing in different scenes. Daleks, cybermen possibly Davros animatronics and it could be quite fun. But is Doctor Who popular enough over in the states?

I actually heard a while back through an article on twitter (too long ago to find the link) that there were talks of what I think was a BBC park (not by Disney) that would include a Doctor Who section.

About a year ago it gained huge popularity here. Everyone just suddenly loved the show, and if you haven't seen every season on Netflix by now, by golly, GET WITH THE PROGRAM! So it's definitely popular enough. The crowds would love it. But the problem? Disney doesn't own it so.....

There are (and have been previously) Dr Who Exhibitions in the UK. The most notable that I remember was in Blackpool near Madam Tussauds and the Central Pier.

Now I'm not a "Whoee" or whatever the fans call themselves, but I think a Dr Who attraction within EPCOT could be a crowd puller (if Disney had the rights). Like @mergatroid I watched Dr Who as a small child (Similar time period ago) and enjoyed it. Nowadays my tastes have diversified and widened and Dr Who doesn't fit in.

I imagine a Tardis in the corner of EPCOTs UK, stepping through its doors into a much bigger room inside (as per the real Tardis) and walking through an exhibition inside. The shop at the end could sell long multi-coloured scarves

Yah! They could have the Tardis up against a hedge or building and the other side of the hedge, or the inside of the building could serve as the staging area.

Ussually I find it hard to picture movie themed, or in this case tv show themed, atractions in Epcot, but Dr. Who seems like it could work.
If Disney owned the rights there would probably be a theatrically released Doctor Who movie as well.

A Doctor Who ride is an interesting idea, but I still think a Beatles Pepperland ride would work better, because the Beatles are better-known internationally than Doctor Who, and are more quintessentially British.

EDITED TO ADD: Beg pardon, I misread the thread title - I thought the OP was talking about putting a Who ride in Epcot's Great Britain. :P

So if they agreed a deal for the rights you guys think it would be popular? Do most i America know who Doctor Who is even if they don't actually watch it, would the majority recognize a Dalek or a Cyberman?
Most know about Doctor Who and I think enough would recognize a Dalek or Cyberman, but I agree with Disneyhead'71 about it being kind of a Universal Studios thing. I think it would fit better there.

I actually could see Universal doing something with both Dr. Who and Sherlock right beside the London Waterfront area.

Oh, and it is the Paramount Park coming to the UK that will have Dr. Who, Sherlock, and Top Gear attractions.

The finale is an Irish guy getting punched in the face because Clarkson's steak isn't available :)

I'd wager yes....mostly because of David Tennant's brand of quirkiness.

America didn't really pay attention to Dr. Who when they revived the series with Christopher Eccleston...but once Tennant signed on, it caused America's interest in the series to spike.

Even folks who have never watched the show are still familiar with Weeping Angels, mostly because of the Tenth Doctor's warning video.
