Worth it to take a taxi from Contemporary to HS/AK?

I have a 6 year old and twin 4-year olds and am looking at my schedule for our Disney trip in late Jan/early Feb. We are staying at Contemporary so MK and Epcot will be no problem to get to/from. We are planning on being at the parks at opening and, while it won't be a problem for MK, it means an early morning for AK and HS. Hollywood Studios in particular because they have EMH the day that we are going there so that means 8am opening.

How much time do you think it saves to take a taxi vs. the bus? I'm thinking it might be stressful to take the bus when we have to get the kids out there early, wait around for bus, and then wait through the other stops. I thought maybe it'd be worth the money to have a taxi just take us right there.

Thoughts?

If you ever need to be somewhere at a certain time, and you're willing to pay the fares, a cab is absolutely the way to go.

The only delay comes if there isn't a cab waiting at your resort, but 99% of the time, there will be at least one.

We've used cabs several times in the past when we had specific times to be somewhere. That was before kids though, I had no idea cabs had boosters & car seats.

If you're in a rush - nothing beats a direct route from A to B.

Though I'm more likely to try to plan ahead and make the necessary arrangements (e.g. either get up early, take transportation, etc. or just make a later reservation). The only time I've ever taken a cab in the World is to return a rental car just outside the gate that I picked up in another city.

Well, you're staying at the Contemporary. Is cost really an issue with you? If you need the convenience then go for a taxi.

Doesn't the bus go directly from the Contemporary to both AK and HS?

I'm thinking you won't save that much time by taking a taxi, maybe 10-15 minutes - depends on how long you wait for a bus/taxi.
A taxi is going to make the journey quicker.....but you're probably talking about less than a 5 minute saving tops.

Is a 15 minute saving worth $20?
Not too me, unless you were running late for a reservation that wouldn't accept you a little late.

We stayed at Contemporary last April. If I remember right, after the AK or HS bus picks you up at the Contemporary, then you stop at the Poly, then to the Grand Floridian before you actually go to the park. So, a taxi would save you considerable time. On the return trip, you do get dropped off first, before the Poly and GF folks.

One thing to consider is that all of your children need to be in children's seats. Cabs may have one or two, but not three. Just get on the bus early like the rest of the people at WDW do. If the park opens at 9AM and you want to be there at opening, you need to be at the buses at about 7:45.
