Most pavilions did not have 15 year contracts. Both Horizons and World of Motion were ten.


Disney wanted a new attraction first and foremost, and when GM realized they couldn't renew for World of Motion, THEN they said they wanted an attraction more automobile-focused.


Kodak was duped by Disney into thinking their then-current attraction was not popular, in part by a sabotage effort. Not to mention the concepts originally pitched to Kodak were wildly different than the ride we ended up getting.


GE didn't want to leave EPCOT, they wanted to reallocate their sponsorship dollars in EPCOT. Hence why they signed for Innoventions and dropped Horizons. Dropped Horizons and picked up IllumiNations.
