Worried about the weather

My wife and I will be arriving in Orlando this Thursday and we will be at WDW for 9 1/2 days. This is our first fall trip and I don't quite know what to expect as far as the weather goes. I have been checking out Orlando's weather forecast for this week and next week and it ain't lookin' too good!:(
I recall many of you stating that Orlando weather is very unpredictable so what can we expect during our trip? Do you folks think we will experience alot of rain while we're down there? I am especially concerned about next Friday since we will be going to MNSSHP and the forecast for that day looks especially rainy. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Either way, at least we will be at WDW!:sohappy:

It rains here almost everyday. Weather.com has scary rain clouds, but in reality, it rains for like half an hour. Of course there are days when it lasts longer... I am not sure if it has rained today yet.

It shouldn't hurt your trip that much. Just be prepared late afternoon to maybe see a show to skip the rain!

We just got back and truth be told this was our rainest trip but didn't really ruin anything. It rained atleast a couple of hours 2-3 days and I think it showered atleast everyday. This is our 4th trip in Sept and the first time it has rained this much. I would suggest purchasing the Disney Ponchos the best $7 investment you will have and definately worth the $$$$. We tried to hit the inside rides as best we could and take it easy.

They only bad experience was the supposed cancelled Fantasmic show that actually happened:mad: but don't get me started on that.

As you said atleast you will be in Disney!!

GL!!!

I also went down recently and noticed it seemed to be raining a lot.

As someone suggested get ponchos, however, I also suggest, if you can, to carry an umbrella or two. My DH and I had one on this last trip and it worked out really well. I simply carried it in my purse and then when it started raining, whipped that bad boy out. It was a lot easier than using ponchos all the time. Sure, we may have gotten a bit wet, but not nearly what we would have. We however, didn't let the rain dampen ( ) our spirits...we got out there and still played.

When looking at the weather, I find that Weather.com is not the most reliable source for Florida weather forecasts. It always seems like they over exaggerate rain chances for this area.

If you want to look at something more accurate, I would check one of the local Orlando news station or newspaper web sites.

Also, take into account (as many people have said before), when it rains, it usually lasts 30 minutes or less. Granted, there are occassions when this does not hold up, but that is more the exception than the rule. Also, since these storms are generated by the heat of the day, once the sun starts to set, any rain in the area comes to an end as well.

Weather.com is a computer generated forecast based strictly off the MOS numbers from the latest model runs. No human looks at it, tweaks it, or anything else, so it can be misleading.

What you see each afternoon are "seabreeze" thunderstorms which happen almost every day in FL from June through September or October. It just depends upon when the first real cool front of the year brings some drier air to the state. As long as you have heat and moist air, combined with the seabreeze effect, thunderstorms are going to happen every day. You have a 50-50 shot of seeing one. As mentioned, they usually last 30-60 minutes then are gone. It's really no big deal.

Any time you're looking at a forecast look for hours of precip expected, or even amount of rain expected, to get a better idea of what you'll be dealing with. In FL rain chance percentages are worthless in terms of knowing what to expect.

Hi, Dont panic or feel that you have wasted thousands on a nice summer holiday..........only to be rained on.
The forcast channels and webs sites are all correct in what they post......mainly??!!
Florida is a tropical state, and you tend to find evry morning bright and sunny, and as the day goes on clouds build up, which normally end up in a late afternoon thunderstorm or rain storm.
Unfortunately this is where it is and not because you have booked a vacation....................
This is why Florida is a wetland area and is so green.
Get yourselves some of the great ponchos and ride it out. The storms do wonders for the crowds and the lines at rides.
Because they happen late afternoon, a lot of folks bug out and head home, leaving the parks a lot less full and congested.
Have a wonderfull and magical stay.

Right off the bat you are traveling during hurricane season. Thus, we do have rain almost every day. Usually only lasts a few minutes and then it's fine. Once in a blue moon we will get a rain that lasts all day which we had the other day, but that is only when there is a "system" close by. You'll be fine...it's been so warm that getting a little wet is almost a blessing especially when your in the parks where it can be beastly hot.
