Working in Entertainment

Hey I've been reading these boards and it sounds like the college program is a great opportunity. I was accepted into it for Spring 2005 but unfortunately had to decline for financial reasons. I had been placed into merchandise. Since then, I have spent 2 years working in entertainment at Six Flags. I have basically done everything in the department besides performing. Usher, Box Office, Backstage tech, stage manager, special events, Character Escort, Character Lead, etc... But I have never done Character.

It looks to me like the only job you can get in Entertainment through the WDWCP is as a character or "character attendant." Is it possible to get involved in shows as a backstage/lighting/sound crew person? Or management in shows? Anyone who knows about the Entertainment department, please let me know how to get in. I would LOVE to work for Disney!

BTW I am a grad student now with a BS in entertainment management. Do you think that would help?

I don't think you can get a Manager or Tech position while you are in the college program.

The only things in Entertainment that would be available to you would be Character Attendant or Character.

Is it possible to get into tech or stage manager positions through other ways, since the CP is not the way to do it? Anyone know about getting hired into entertainment through like the website or anything like that? Thanks!

Ok new question... if I apply for the CP, and I'm looking to get into entertainment (theater tech preferably) eventually AFTER I have done the program, what roles should I check on my application? What types of roles would most prepare me for a job there in entertainment? And are there professional internships or other options for CP alums that would help me get into entertainment? Thanks!!!
