I recently applied for a salaried position at WDW. I was contacted by HR and had a phone interview. That was two days ago. I have read MANY stories of current and past employees who work for WDW and hate it. Granted, most of them, if not all, were hourly employees and they hate the pay. I understand that and I do feel they are underpaid and under-valued.

However, I am trying to get an idea of what it's like for a salaried employee. I did read one or two things that "hinted" at the idea that they don't have it as bad but I am still curious...

Has anyone worked for or is currently working for WDW in a salaried position? Do you know anyone who does? Do they like it or is it mostly horror stories?

Thanks for your input!!!

I could be wrong but the only salary people at the parks are managers. If you work in HR, marketing, exc. then I'd expect any of those roles to be salary as well.

IT is a good place to work; great hours and (most) holidays off. It's a desk office job (obviously), so you're avoiding 90% of what people who work in the parks complain about. Good luck!

I haven't worked for Disney (yet) but I would imagine like at any other job it is what you make it. Most people who work for Disney complain about the hours, pay, and customers. If you work in IT I imagine you won't be dealing with customers but during the peak season your hours still might be long and the pay may not be the top bracket of what you could make someplace else. Just remember why you chose Disney. I'm sure you didn't choose Disney for the money but because you love the company. So far with my pre-employment experience they have been very up front with everything. Before I signed my College Program agreement I knew how much I would be making per an hour and the potential hours I'll be working (35 to 40 off-peak and 45 plus during peak). I say if you have the right mindset you can overlook what most people complain about.

I agree. I'm not worried about long hours. I'm used to it already. I chose Disney because I love the place! When I vacation there it is the only time I really am relaxing. I get to have fun and be a kid again. I know that I may feel differently if I do get this position and see what really goes on behind the scenes but at the end of the day I can still say I have a job and it's with Disney :sohappy: No matter where you work there will be things you don't like and I'm sure that will happen here too but you make the best of it and just keep swimming ;)

It really is like any other job, it's your attitude and if the position/company you work for is a good fit for you. Disney is much more demanding than many companies, so expect to be held to a higher standard, but overall, I enjoyed it (and if you want to know, I was an Entertainment Technician at MK).
