When im in college (I'm 16 now) I wanted to spend a sumer working at WDW or maybe even two, but anyway, is it worth it to do the actual internship or just do it on my own like with my own apartment and what not. I researched the internship and the career I want to pursue(dentistry) has nothing to do with any of the internship programs, so all it would be doing is delaying my college work.

Any input would be great.......

You get credit for doing the College Program, and when you are on the college program trust me you're going to want to stay in the apartments that Disney offers you. Mainly because you'll be making minimum wage, and trust me you won't have the money to afford an apartment on Disney pay. Plus, you could work as a seasonal employee over the summer, but don't forget with apartments you have to sign contracts for 6 months to a year. It's not like you can just come down here, work and have an apartment. Plus, you'd most likely have to find a roomie since most 1br/1ba apartments around Disney start at $580.

But, if it would be delaying your college work, then i'm not sure. Would you be going to school all year round? I mean i'm sure you could sign up for the Summer College program where you come down around May and leave beginning-mid August. You could still get credits, but don't forget you have a lot of time to still decide!

Where do you plan on going to college?

You're right in that the internship wont really help with the denistry, but it will still give you valuable experience. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think the internship was offered over the summer. You'd have to take a semester off to participate (either fall or spring). I'm thinking about doing that myself since I'm going into my junior year of college. If you want to be there during just the summer then I guess your only option is to work full-time and rent an apartment. Look around, see if you can get a lease for just a couple months. Don't expect to make much money though, most, if not all, will just cover your living expenses. Not that it still wouldn't be worth it.

I definatly recomend that! Working here at WDW is a blast!! It must be the greatest job ever!!!

I definetly second that! Definetly not a job you do for the money but just the fact that you get to make magic everyday.

With the college program, since you're going to school during the normal year it would probably set you back a semester since the summer program is CP Alum only. On the other hand, if your school offers credit it's likely to be an easy GPA boost and an incredible experience. Check out http://www.wdwcpinfo.com for more info.
