WL Room Requests

I've been reading up on rooms and such at Wilderness Lodge. We have a courtyard view booked for this summer. I've seen sites that list options you can select and such, such as floor preference, corner room, etc.. However, I haven't seen those options anywhere on MDX.

What is the best way to request a more specific room location for WL? And while I'm asking, anyone have suggestions on quieter rooms with the best views that are courtyard view at WL? We've never stayed at WL before, so we're VERY excited.

Thanks!

The options at on-line check-in are very generic for all resorts.

You can call the reservations line and ask them to note your preference on the reservation. Best do it at least a month ahead, all room assignments are now done centrally and they start around 30 days before.

Alternatively if you have a Touring Plans subscription you can use their room finder and opt for them to send in an email.

Whichever way you use leave the options clear when you do on-line check-in to avoid the risk of those over-writing your more detailed request.

WL is beautiful and one of my favorites (if not my favorite) to stay at.

That being said, a courtyard view and "quiet" seem difficult to both get because the courtyard views look out onto the pool, which has a person on a loudspeaker all day running activities. I have stayed in a courtyard view that was closer to the main building, and so I got a beautiful view of the waterfall and didn't hear the pool activities as much, but I still heard it. So, I would suggest you ask for a room nearer to the main lobby.

This request will not be on the generic check in options. The closest thing would be to ask for a room near the elevators since those are closer to the main building. But, if you are close to the elevators you are going to hear people all day.

My advice would be to call the resort directly to make this specific request. They will try to honor it if they can. As for when to do that, I always call with requests a few days before my arrival. But, the above-poster recommended 30 days out. I would try 30 days out, and then call again about 3 days before. That way you have both covered.

Have fun!!

It usually only gives you a couple choices for preference. From many years staying there, and it has changed alot, they actually assign the rooms two weeks prior I seem to recall, and that is when I call to remind of my specific preferences. When I stay on the CL I can actually ask for certain rooms, if available, but otherwise it doesn't hurt to call and ask if they can add it to your reservation notes. I am a super light sleeper. I love being on the top floor or near the top, courtyard view. I prefer the front portion that overlooks the nature area with waterfall vs overlooking the pool...Silver Creek Springs area. The further down the wing you are the closer you are to the night parade and boat toots, along with pool noise when it is open. After 9:40 in the past it is pretty quiet. I have found it never hurts to ask!!! Be prepared for a wait on speaker phone...
end of courtyard wing overlooking SIlver Creek Springs ends in 43 before angling towards the elevators and going down the hallway poolside. On floor 6 corner room is 6043, next is 6045(the odd numbers face courtyard fyi)

I wonder if the refurb has any bunkbed rooms. Have not seen any pics with. We found the full twin size bunk beds with reading lights awesome for two children who don't want to share a bed..... I don't think they have them as they are not listed as option for beds now, and the odd thing is the photos are NOT what the rooms will look like either......
I never really want to stay anywhere else......:angelic:❤️

Here you go, the lower half is now DVC, so look at the upper wing in this picture.....they just add floor number before the room number for floor 2 and above. The rooms into the turn are deluxe rooms.

Since the Fall of 2019 all room assignments are now done centrally. No more individual resort teams. That was when Touring Plans were asked by Disney to send in room requests 30 days before check-in.

I had thought they already were centrally done and taken away from resort before my 2019 trip.....but that said, they still told me they did not assign the actual room to the guest until closer to stay, and advised me to call back, they would try to honor my request but could not guarantee it. I did end up getting it.....and they DO add comments to your reservation, somebody must look at those.....🤔 When it was club level stay, I worked with someone in Disney Signature Services.....not sure if they still have that grouping. In retrospect I usually begin my planning a year prior.....and I was told it was no longer handled by resort sometime in 2018.....but still encouraged me to add my requests.....think I had to prioritize them too.

They still look at requests, which are added to the reservations.

Fall 2019 was certainly when DVC lost their dedicated room assigners from each resort. Prior to that some DVC resorts were reputed to ignore any requests not made via Member Services. That is no longer applicable, although it probably remains the safest way since only MS can update the DVC reservations.

And that was when TP were asked to email in requests at 30 days instead of faxing in at 5 days.

That’s not to say that the regular resorts didn’t use centralised assigners before that.
