Wizard of Oz attraction?

Of course, we all know that the Wizard of Oz is featured heavily in Disney-MGM Studio's "The Great Movie Ride," but I've just run across this short bit (http://www.eskimo.com/~tiktok/faq19.html#3) that indicates that a Wizard of Oz attraction was planned for Disneyland as well.

I know a fair share of the history of the Disney theme parks and have not previously encountered any mention of this Wizard of Oz attraction. Can anyone point me toward, or share here, more about this?

I wonder if there would be contractual problems with doing more Wizzard of Oz stuff. A CM friend of mine working with Imagineering had once told me that they actually wanted to do more with Wizzard in TGMR. Apparently, they had designed the Socerer Mickey sequence to actually be a sceen from the tornado in Wizzard. (Think about the shape of that room and it makes sense). I was told that Disney and MGM couldn't agree on a contract that would extend the amount of audio that Disney could use.

I was told that Disney was allowed to make just about anything visual they wanted as part of TGMR, but that they only had rights to a certain number of minutes of audio from Wizzard of Oz and there wasn't enough to do the tornado sceen without compromising what they wanted to do in the final Munchkin sequence...

Just rumors though...

Halfway down the page is what the Imagineers wanted to do with Wizard of Oz in the Great Movie Ride.
