Witholding my vote for the ENTIRE Board this year because....

They are making a mockery of the "New CEO search" process. Iger has been paraded around for many months, making speeches, shaking hands, kissing babies, etc. He is the choice of the Board, but they can't say that yet. They will go thru the motions of "searching" for a new CEO. A Board of Directors that willfully neglects outside candidates does not deserve a vote for re-election, in my estimation.

I would like to see the entire board retired anyway. Everyone blames the CEO for all of the decisions made but in truth, the board makes most of the calls. I believe that This particular board is done. The ideas and decisions that are coming from the board room are not moving Disney forward. Many things have been neglected over the last decade which would include the cartoon franchise, the parks, the employees, the message. I would like to see some young ambitious blood sit the boardroom. Perhaps a group of people with the fire in thier bellies to send Disney soaring into the new millenia.

I'm thinking about witholding my entire vote also. I was looking for a particular last name on the board...and funny thing, I didn't find it?! Now Disney on the Walt Disney Company Board of Directors! There needs to be a Disney on the Board to make sure the Company continues the way Walt would have wanted it to. I'm witholding my vote for Eisner for sure. No way I would vote for man who destroyed my Disney family!

The other thing I was wondering. Is there a place on the web to get more information about the board members and their backgrounds? Also about the questions that are on the ballot? Just wondering! Thanks!

The board of directors is SUPPOSED to be independant. Roy Disney used to be on the board before he quit and I always questioned the reasoning of why he was allowed on the board. The board of directors is there as a check and balance of executive power. The problem is they are not independent enough and therefore do not effectively carry out their jobs.

What if the shareholders voted against Bob Iger as much as they did to Michael Eisner last year? Would this affect his status as the potential future CEO?

I would think so Grizz. I do not know enough about Iger to make an educated decision on his ability to lead the board. To be truthful, I do not see hardly anyone out there I would jump up and down about and say, pick him. I don't think George Pepper would be interested, but I know he did a good job at P&G. It should be interesting.

I have read a little about Iger, and I must admit that I won't be reeling in horror if he's "chosen" to be CEO. It sounds like he's more diplomatic than Eisner, and there was one other thing... which I can't remember right now. But he's still an Eisner crony, and I'll be searching out more info about his profile in the coming days and weeks (read: is he a bean counter, or someone with vision?)

I simply have a problem with the "process" that is being used by the board. To hire an outside firm, but at the same time parade around your buddy and puppet is a slap in the face to the other candidates, and the process as a whole.
