Title speaks for itself!

Is World of Color Realistic?? (I Hope so)

What else would you like to see come to the dwindling and unimaginative area that Downtown Disney is Fastly becoming???

From what has been reported, the WoC needs to be constructed in a man-made lake, which the waters around DtD are not. There's been some reports of what is possible, but nothing official from Disney is expected for a couple of weeks.

I'd like to see a AC redux, but I'm afraid that's not going to happen unless they move it over to AK (a low-percentage proposition at best).....:(

Yeah as much as the area would work and as much as id love it i dont see WOC arriving any time in the near future!!

And as far as The Adventurers club goes that really isnt a realistic future plan for DTD:shrug:

I'd like to see the return of the 'shopping village' concept that DtD originally was. Not exactly of course but the general concept. Keep the Adventurer's Club but move it to a bigger building and make it more of a dinner show ala Hoop De Doo. This place sounded amazing but I'd never had the chance to see it. And it seems like an unusual and interesting draw.

From there build around the 'Adventure' theme. Restaurants with more unusual cuisines and stores with merchandise that you can't find in your local outlet mall. When that Tren-D store sells stuff that I 've seen in my local Marshall's a year previously, like the Loop NYC bags, its kind of old. Transform this area into of a mix between Indiana Jones and World Showcase for what now is Pleasure Island.

Or that could just be one 'land'. If done right, and not on the cheap, there could be a few different each with a theme and mood of their own. There could be a completly 'Green' area. Lots of bamboo. Renewables. Solar powered things. Stores that cater to that with reused recyclables made into something else. Maybe even a Segway tour there.

Just some ideas. Can't be any worse than what's already there.

Why not turn Pleasure Island into a kids nightlife destination? It could be similar to the Neverland Club at the Polynesian. Each venue could be different. There could be one venue focused more on toddlers, another area could be more hands on, another could be similar to a Discovery Zone or Leaps and Bounds, another could be more of a dance party for pre-teens.

That way the adults can have down time at a nice restaurant, movie, shopping, or La Nuba. It would be family-friendly, still retain the nightlife atmosphere, could still bring in lots of money, and is entirely realistic!

While it sounds nice I don't think there is enough interest in it to make it work. They are actually closing the kids club at AKL which leads me to believe that attendance at the kids clubs is coming in on the low side.

Like many others have said I want an AC dinner show/club/any thing with the AC theme.

I agree. Plus, so many of the resorts have nighttime movies and other options for kids that to put something like that in DtD probably wouldn't work....

Now if Disney would just tell us exactly what's going up. Since I think we have a pretty good idea of what's coming down......:(

I'd love to see the Adventurers Club come back, but really it probably won't happen unless people really push for it.

As far as PI...just give me one adult only place to escape the hoards of children. I love kids, but I have none in my life, so going to Disney and seeing the kids everywhere is a bit of a system shock, so give me one adult spot. Please. Maybe something like the AC but not quite?

Dinner & Show? Interactive show. With Adventurers in the 1930's....

Based on the current permits it looks like everything on the shoreline is coming down. That would add up to BET, AC, Beach Club and possibly Motions.

Well, I'll say this: They're definitely giving themselves a blank canvas to work with. Let's hope they can come up with something good......

Lee had mentioned that Schussler Creative would be involved who has brought us such places at T-rex, Yack and Yeti and Rainforest Cafe which makes me cautiously optimistic. Hopefully Landry's will not be running the food portion because the last thing I want are 2 or 3 new restaurants with menus that are only slightly tweaked versions of what is already there. Although having a few more places that I can get priority seating at with no ADR is somewhat appealing.:D

I'll remain cautiously optimistic (even with the demolition of the AC). But, just how many more T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe-esque restaurants does DtD need? Yes, the atmosphere is fun, but the food (and drink) are overpriced and somewhat underwhelming.

I would agree but it does seem to be a successful formula.

They are actually only closing Camp Kidani which was a two hour activity at Kidani Village. The actual children's center is Simba's Cubhouse which will remain open.

What don't you like about it? The food or the restaurant?

Its strange myself and my GF have alwyas had a soft spot for Planet Hollywood (i know its far from great but its just the drinks and starters that we really like) but the rainforest was just so LOUD with all the monkeys and elephants screaming and then they brought out our main course when we were only half way through our starters which is just SO ANNOYING and really soured us on the place!!

Id pop in for a drink maybe but nothing else!!

I do hope that any experience that they put in, be it shopping, restaurants, or clubs, would be a touch better than a Rainforest Cafe.

Nothing at all against those places, I "like" them just fine (meaning, I enjoy taking my kid there and am not repulsed by the food, and only minorly annoyed at the pricing). I've never been to one on WDW, mainly because I'd never spend my WDW time on something I can visit at my local mall. It always seems to me that these places try very hard to theme themselves as deeply as Disney does, but just does not quite make it for some reason I can't quite put my finger on (maybe the ungodly money Disney has???).

I'd hope that some of the new DTD would stick true to what Pleasure Island was, in a place that adults could step out and enjoy. I know when I go on a trip with my parents and have them around for babysitting duties, I'd love to be able to do not just a dinner out with my wife, but also go and pretend we're young and fun again. I've only been to the AC once, but was so happy with the time I spent there that I am still very bummed it is not there.

I dont think that they need to do the whole thing up like PI used to be, with separate cover, etc, but as long as there are a few places that trend more "adult" with a fun and unique theming, I'm going to be happy. If they want to theme the whole area in one fashion and stay to one cohesive theme, I'm fine with that, just as long as they offer a variety of different experiences.

That is one of the beefs we have always had with RFC and T-rex is unfortunately no different. We have somewhat learned to live with it by going at off hours when the place calms down.
