"Wishes" viewing

I've only watched it from the hub, which was great, of course. I read someone's suggestion from another thread that said the area near Splash Mountain was a good spot. I'm hoping to try both locations out in May 'cause I want to do some video. :) Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

I can give you some suggestions that sound like a good spot but aren't.

- In front of Crystal Palace there is limited view. Almost everything is blocked by trees. The few spots you can get an unobstructed view, the epxerience is diminished because they do not turn the lights off around there.

- Cosmic Ray's outside seating. The overhang blocks your entire view.

- Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace. You can't really see the castle effects well from there, plus the angles are all odd. Additionally, there is a section with overhang that blocks your view and they do not turn off the lights in that area.

- Behind the Castle in Fantasyland. You'd think it was cool but nope. The angle is wrong and you miss the castle effects of course.

Personally, I still prefer the Hub. Though at xmas time last year, we were too close to the Castle and missed pretty much all of Holiday Wishes - the castle blocked the fireworkds. :(

I've also been stuck on the walkway area by the restrooms "below" Noodle Terrace and it wasn't bad. Nothing blocked your view, but you were a little far. Though they do turn the lights off there.

If you're thinking of going train station route (which I never have personally so I can't comment), bear in mind there are about five tables and people start sitting in them literally hours before Wishes starts. To me, it's not worth wasting that much time sitting in one place to wait.

What are some of the best prefered viewing locations for "Wishes", Inside or outside the park?:p

I personally like the bridge from the castle to Tomorrowland. If you can get under the wire Tinkerbell flies right over your head.

One of my favorite "last minute" spots is right on Main Street. You know the bench with Roy & Minnie? If you go a little further towards the castle there is a big "x" on the ground formed by where the trolley tracks split to go around the circle. For some reason, no one ever stands there (I guess because there's so many people scurrying around), so you can get a nice centered viewing spot of Wishes about 2 minutes before it starts.

About 5 years ago, we got the silver package and had a preferred viewing spot for the fireworks (not Wishes....I forget what it was called then). The spot was somewhere between the hub and tomorrow land. THere was a planter there with a perfect spot for sitting (it was about 4 feet high). It was a very good spot. I just cant remember exactly where it was. I need a map!!!

It really depends on what effect you're looking for.

I enjoyed being in Fantasyland, right near Small World. You feel like you're right in the middle of everything. The fireworks are going off all around. You do loose the crossover effect of the large streamers, and there is some obstruction of view by the castle.

The beach at the Polynesion is a great photography spot, however you are very far away.

The beginning of Main Street at the train station is a great spot to see the effects of the large streamers against the castle, but you will have a lot of company.

I always found that the balcony outside of the California Grill at the Contemporary was a great spot for fireworks outside of the parks. I also had the luck to be sitting down to dinner right in front of a window at Ohana just moments before Wishes began one night. It was amazing!! :sohappy:

We always like to get in the far back of Main Street, just below the train station because not only does it give a great view, but you get out very quickly and can usually catch a resort bus without any wait.

However if you plan on sticking around in the park until it clears out, I would suggest anywhere around Main Street. A nice spot to catch the fireworks is at the exit to Big Thunder Mountain. You can't really hear the music and you can't see the castle effects, but it's a great view of the fireworks themselves.

When we went in February we sat in the rose garden at one of those benches. We moved it right up to the railing and there was nobody else even in the garden except for one other couple sitting on the other bench. IT WAS GREAT! And since we moved the bench nobody could get in front of us, and of course we put it back when we were done! LOL

If you HAVE seen them before, I think a GREAT spot is to make a reservation for 'Ohana at the Polynesian for like... 9:15 and when you get there, request a window seat... for a view of the fireworks (this is for the 10 o'clock fireworks), and they chime in the music in the restaurant, and its a GREAT view... obviously very far away, but I had seen Wishes probably 4 or 5 times in MK, so I found this to me an amazing alternative, my gf and I had an amazing spot.

I love watching them from the middle of main street - right near Casey's. That way we can grab a hotdog right after and the view from there is incredible. Nothing's more magical than seeing the fireworks right above the castle. When the lights go out and the music starts I get chills.

That sounds like a great spot! Does anyone think that would be a good spot to video, or would it be too close? I'm starting to think I need to position myself somewhere back on the hub or on Main Street.

I was there in March when it was scary crowded from the Caseys up through the hub just before Wishes. I managed to get out of that toward Frontierland and found a bench just to the left of Pecos Bill's across from the Turkey Leg cart. I had the bench to myself and had a great view of the regular fireworks but had to lean forward to see the Roman Candles closer to the castle. Once Wishes was over I had a straight shot to a walk-on at Big Thunder and an easy wait for Splash. I'll definitely try that again.
