I used to be optimistic about Disneyland resort will have third park. But now my feelings has swayed otherwise.

There lack of infrastructure to support a third park. The Disneyland forward is very vague regarding the site of Toy Story. If disney want to push disneyland boundaries touching Ball Road, leave the site behind Mickey & Friends Parking Garage as a new area to be back of house maintenance. Their less room to support the need for a third park.
But I am more convinced Toy Story Lot.l will be a glorified hotel and commercial development for Disney.

Is everyone feeling the same or some have optimistic for a third park. I DO not consider the narrow stretch of land the left over paved parking lots on the west side of the property to be a “third park development”.

Disneyland isn't at capacity. Until the day comes that 100% of DLR guests are buying full priced tickets, do they really need another gate?

As long as annual passes are still used to "fill in the gaps", I would think not.

There's also the question of benefit. At WDW an extra park = extra day(s) including extra hotel night(s). I don't know what the typical attendance patterns are for DLR, but personally I typically do a 5-day ticket when visiting and a third park won't extend that.

I've never been a fan of putting in a third park, especially in the Toy Story parking lot where a lot of people think it would go. Park hopping would require leaving the property and travelling in some form on city streets. Then there was talk about it going where the Eastern Gateway would go, but I never saw that as viable either.

Since the introduction of Disneyland Forward I figured it was Disney's intention to expand the existing parks over building a third one. I'm good with that.

Good point. Personally, I have zero interest in leaving the main property for another park. The current convenience is too great of a setup.

I'd say the odds of a third park in SoCal are barely above zero at this point and won't ever get much higher unless a major change happens in the local economic and regulatory environment. For better or worse (and plenty of people will argue either side) California is just not an attractive place for that kind of investment anymore.

DLR doesn't need a third park. The resort needs to build out DCA to be able to standup next to DL. I say that as someone that throroughly enjoys DCA, btw. I just feel that if Disney wants to add to to the resort, they have DCA for that. So much of the park has never been fully realized.

We don't need a third park and I sincerely hope we don't get one. As already stated, DCA is in need of strong, quality development. There's so much that can be done with that park.
I’m in both total agreement. DCA need more major developments first.

Sure, it’s something to consider once they bring DCA up to Disneyland’s level of quality and use up all the available DisneylandForward space. So about 100 years from now.

From 1955 to 1984 (Pre-Eisner, 28 years), Disney built 4 parks.
From 1984 to 2005 (Eisner, 21 years), Disney built 7 parks.
From 2005 to 2022 (Post-Eisner, 17 years), Disney built 1 park.

Iger and Chapek have made it evident they are not interested in building theme parks. Does this mean Disneyland will never receive a third gate? I don't think so. The land is there and plans once existed for a Resort expansion, however it definitely won't happen with the current leadership. But, remember, it took 46 years for Disneyland to receive a second gate, so it's not too crazy to think it will take until 2047 for a third park.

WDW will probably get a 5th park before DL gets a 3rd. Also if anything, Disneyland needs a water park over a 3rd actual park. I'm surprised they never made one.
Why does Disneyland need a water park? The Anaheim area already has two water parks, Soak City and Great Wolf Lodge, which fill that niche. On top of that, water parks are less profitable than a real theme park. Given Disneyland's limited space and the presence of competition so close by, it would be illogical to build one at Disneyland. Not to mention water parks are just disgusting.

Why would anybody want a third park? I'm sincerely curious, as this topic comes up all the time among Disneyland fans. What would the theme be? WestCOT is never ever going to be built, a studios park would be redundant given DCA's attraction roster, and AK really only makes sense in Orlando (imagine riding Kilimanjaro Safari and seeing a Del Taco in the distance). Are people craving Long Beach DisneySea built on a Chapek budget?

It's not like DCA sufficiently utilizes its acreage and is just bursting at the seams with all-killer no-filler lands and attractions. There's so much to replace and plus-up over there. And then there's the DisneylandForward expansion pads. I don't get it.

Disney cannot monopolize a water park in CA like in FL. I do not see a water park. If anything they will use water slides and lazy River as amenities for potential new hotels.
