Will the Mickey Fountain return?

Now that Disney is finally removing the dance party stage from the Hollywood studios backlot, will they rebuild the Mickey Fountain that they put in as part of their place making changes back a few years ago?

What does it look like now?
They built the stage over it for ElecTRONica and it wasn't properly preserved. Miceage had pictures of the chipped and falling apart fountain a few years ago when Disney did work for the Mad Tea party. I'm sure the statue is stored away but the base needed a lot of work to restore it.

The WDS statue came before the DCA one. I don't recall, but I think it was installed just before Superstar Limo became Monsters Inc. Here's what it looks right now (pic from mintcrocodile)

Looks like there's a construction wall there, so I would assume the fountain is being restored.

Like Partners, this particular statue has found its way to multiple parks for no apparent reason. DCA's Hollywood Land, WDS' entrance plaza, HKDL's Fantasyland, TDL's Fantasyland. I think the only hold outs are WDW and SDL.

While it would be nice for it to return to DCA and it likely will, I'm more interested in when that whole section of Hollywood Land is going to get knocked over for something new.

The rest of the backlot looks really empty and sad.

That was its original look from 2001, but with only two customers in the shot instead of that huge crowd of seven customers.

Paul Pressler and Cynthia Harriss would be so proud to see DCA returning to its 2001 roots for 2016.

Although Miceage Updates have said this area will be used for food festivals this November thru next April. They are likely getting it ready for that.

Remember when they had a parked Rocket Rod in front Hollywood & Dine and this giant futuristic vinyl mural on the wall? Those were the days.

I remember eating at the food court in the soundstage to the right when DCA first opened. The lack of crowds made it, along with the Soap Opera Bistro expendable. There really isn't much in the way of food in that section of the park now beyond Award Wieners, Schmoozy's and various food carts. They'll need more over there if that area expands though my guess is that soundstage will either be bulldozed or utilized as part of the expansion...but not as a food court.

They didn't restore the Mickey fountain. All we get is an ugly circle of mismatched cement.

It was a reasonably nice touch by why put something back in that is very likely going to a) be in the way for any other "festival" like things they do and b) going to be torn out as part of the redo of that area anyways.

OMG! Yes, the dark days of DCA.

I feel like they have kept the faux DCA backlot around as a reminder to us guests......"you better be thankful for what we build you or we will go back to building crap like this!"
