Will the hiring freeze @ WDW effect the WDWCP?

Hi, I haven't posted much on these boards but I read them many times daily. I enjoy all of your posts and I just wanted to find out if you guys/girls think that this hiring freeze that is going on right now will effect the summer and fall college program? I am so excited, I am applying in April, which isn't coming fast enough. Thanks for your responses!!!

I'm a WDWCP Campus Rep for two years now, and have been in the program three times. As of today, the summer session is not available anymore, not even for alumni. For the Fall And Fall Advantage everything is running great. They're looking for a lot of people for the season since they now have more space to place everybody. So go for it and have the time of your life.

Excuse my ignorance please, but why isn´t the summer session available anymore? Are they all full for that? I mean, I would have thought that the CP´s are the "cheap labor" -and please don´t take me wrong-, so they would be hiring them more than a regular local cast member...

My recruiter said that for the summer, most people were there for June, July, and part of August. Not much getting there in May and leaving mid August.

For new people that would be 1 week of moving in, Discovery Day, Traditions, then training. That leaves about 8-10 weeks of work before they leave and new people have to be trained. They said it wasn't worth having people for such a short time.


For alumni, my recruiter said that most wanted different locations and different types of jobs.

Alumni can go back with housing, but you either have to transfer (and be allowed) or go back to your old work location. You can get housing for 4 weeks at a time, when your 4 weeks are nearing completion, you can get housing for another 4 weeks, and then again and again if room is available. My recruiter said they were talking about having a set number for alumni and that it would be available for as long as you wanted.


The only thing that the freeze may effect is the number of hours you get. Instead of 40 (that many CPs get), you may end up getting 30-35 a week.

Thanks for all your replies, I was just starting to get worried because it was finally working out that I could do this program and then with the freeze I was worried about what would happen to the program. I will let you all know what happens!!!!
