Will Spongebob dictate the future of 2-D animation

With the Spongebob Squarepants movie coming out this November, and this being the only 2-D animated film being released this fall (against Shark Tale, The Incredibles, and The Polar Express) how much, if any, will the success of this film figure into the future of traditional animated movies. If this film, based on the very popular show, bombs, will that be the final nail in the coffin for 2-D? On the other hand, if the movie is successful, will the fact that it is based on a hit show hurt the likelyhood of ppl thinking 2-D is not dead?

Anything Spongebob is going to be Huge. It will do excellent at the box office.

However, from the previews, I was let down by the style of the animation. Usually, when tv cartoons get made into a movie, the colors are brighter and bolder, and look better than the tv show. Spongebob looks like an extended TV cartoon though.

The trailers are well done....from a writing standpoint. Disney could learn a few things about film trailers from this movie.

The only one that I have seen was when I went to go see Mean Girls. "The world will know the answer to this question - who lives in a pineapple under the sea?" something like that:lol:

Well, if SBSP kills off 2D you can bet it won't last long. Aspiring young cartoonists everywhere will think it's their niche into the movie industry.
